Kilo's Corner

Glad to hear you find my suggestions paying off! The font looks great and it might be a pain in the neck sometimes but you clearly are capable of pulling it off. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the race paints to come. Your going to find that accumulating logos can be quite fun and theres kind of a nice feeling when you look at a design you want to do and say “ahhh I’ve already got half these logos done!”

Keep us updated.

Lol. I’m doing that already Ace, with my designs on the store front. From the South Beach backdrop, to the Scarface DVD cover, portraits of Brian & Stewie and Death from the Family Guy Mustang, it’s like adding trophies to a case. It keeps me motivated to see how every design keeps improving from me when I first started even way back in FH3. Although on an idiot move on my part the one’s from FH3 are no longer available except for what was in the galleries. I’ll happily keep you all informed. BTW I’m also going to undertake some thread cleaning and re introduce myself.

Hey All! Back with more designs. I also Hope you like the storefront’s re-design. This time around I have replica’s from a couple of cool race cars.

First up is the #540 Black Swan racing Porsche. This was quite fun to do and a bit out of the norm from my release of fantasy paints as of late, but I think it came out great!:

Second release is the #15 Hamofa Industrial Engines BMW i8 Race Car. This was also fun to do and came out with a very nice mean look:

Third release is the #39 Thomson Ferrari Daytona. I like doing vintage racers some logos are pretty unique to the era:

^Nice job on the latest batch. Retro stuff makes up the bulk of my catalog. The base on the Porsche is nice and good detail adding the IMSA series style marker lights, nice job with that! I’m liking your move towards custom fonts, believe me I’m noticing, it’s hard to do for the vintage metal with logos being hard to spot and old out-of-date sponsors but it makes those vintage liveries even better.

Keep 'em coming and keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see more!

Yeah Ace, I liked the IMSA light’s too, I thought it would be cool to add it. In certain light in the game it almost glistens. And thanks for pointing out the custom font. On the Porsche, the Continental Tire logo is Custom mixed with stock font, but I added what hoped to look like a horse. The Weather Tech number box is stock font. The Hamofa logo is completely custom, I just wish I could draw an engine better lol. As for the vintage racer, the GTS 1973 logo and Koni symbol are custom as well as the Sev Marchal stuff those were fun to draw even the Shell Double T logo which I thought was pretty cool. More to come Ace don’t you worry. This time I’m trying my hand at all original designs and not replica’s so I hope that goes well.

Can’t wait to see your original liveries down the pipeline and don’t believe for a second I didn’t notice the use of custom font. Great job on that and I hope to see more of it in the future. Sev Marchal is a favorite logo of mine by the way. You’ll get there as things like painting engines and horses go, it’s all a step by step process. I find it harder to make my own original liveries than the replicas are. I applaud you for that, I can’t wait to see your own base liveries and more. Keep 'em coming.

Hey all, from Replica’s I’ve decided to enter into my own line of original releases. First off is two pieces and with winter around the corner I think they are well suited for the season. I hope all of you enjoy my creations:

Honda Civic Type R (Snow Comb):
This is what happens when I let my mind wander inside the editor. I’ve always wanted to create something cool and or interesting. The sticker mash is inspired by the old school street scenes found in games like Need For Speed Underground.

Mazda RX7 Spirit R (Black Ice):
With this one, I asked myself if I were to drive around in an RX7 how would I design it. I think the Photos would answer that for yah!

I dig the NFS inspired wraps. Diggin’ the bases, they do well giving off that early 2000’s vibes. Good job expanding your use of custom fonts as well. The Nos logo in particular is looking spot on.

I was actually going for that. I miss that era a bit, I glad you picked up on them vibes. Looking back, I was nervous in going in and creating the logos, but then I was like what the heck why not! And again the pay out was worth it. I’m going to be pumping out more logos too, and don’t know if you noticed one logo in particular that said Kilo’s Original on it but it’s on all my pieces gotta sign my work some how. Kind of Narcissistic, but in a good way lol.

I feel you on the watermark and don’t worry it’s not narcissistic! A lot of painters do it, my liveries all have a little PTG logo. It’s a great way to identify your livery when you come across someone using it in a YouTube video or an online race.

It’s Something I must of picked up on looking at paints here on the forum lol. I’m glad I did it though and I’m glad it’s not narcissistic lmao, I also did it for another piece I released on FM7 although different game and different logo. So far I’m happy to report that the RX-7 had a recent run with 32 downloads! I’d like to take some time to thank those who downloaded it Put it to good use!

Nice work on your originals! The Civic and Rx-7 look cool! Keep the creative juices flowing!

Thanks! I appreciate the feed back. No worries on that end. My mind is always coming up with something!

Hey everyone, decided to hit up some more replica designs again. This time around it’s a 1991 BMW M3, the # 41 Labatt’s ‘Please Don’t Drink and Drive’ race car. And no, I’m not joking when I say it lol. I thought it was pretty cool:

First of many to come down the road ahead. After trying my hand at two original paints, I feel that I’m better suited to doing these instead, meaning replica’s. However, it’s nice to know that I could go back and forth between the different categories of paint… heck I started in fantasy lol. Guess I’m trying to find my place. As always, I hope you enjoy the designs!

Nice attempt Kilo. I try my hand at Race designs but very rarely claim to produce Replicas because (to me) the word implies a near perfect recreation of the said livery. With all the little bugs and glitches there are I find it a bit too much of a mission to be honest.

Seeing as you have used the word though, I think moving forward you’re going to need to pay more attention to detail with your decals. As it’s the main sponsor the Labatt’s logo in particular needs to be accurate… the letter ‘b’ should have a longer stem & shouldn’t be skewed either. Same goes for the ‘tt’, they should be taller & straight. There’s no exact in-game font so you’re also going to have to create the letters ‘a’ & ‘s’ from scratch too.

I searched for Labatts in vinyl groups and found the most accurate one to be this one, made by m80 classic

I’d recommend you download & trace it as it’s a great way to get used to choosing & manipulating shapes. You could probably get away with the Drink/Drive tag line but I’d say the red ‘Y’ before YOKOHAMA needs to be addressed too. Hope you found that to be constructive, it’s a nice livery & I noticed it exists on some other cars so you might be able to recreate some of those too :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the help on that man! I didn’t know you could download and trace logos. I certainly got to give that a shot! I also noticed the bugs and glitches, Some designs are nearly impossible to recreate. For example the ‘Be a better driver’ tag line on the front bumper, on the racing car photo I found online, the bumper was wider and clear of obstruction. The design of the car in game forced me to go with incredibly super small font, I was lucky to pull it off. Once again thanks for the help. And as I said, I’ll give downloading and tracing a try and see if I can’t fix this piece up, and do others as well!

I do like the Labatt livery. It’s a great PSA for the brewery. Nicely done.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I’m not finished with this yet. Looking forward to re-working it though, and adding more cars! Make sure to check back.

Was going to say what Midnyte said. Either way it’s a cool car to pick indeed and tracing the logos of other designers can be a great way to learn how to work with the shapes. I have over 120 logos available to downloadn and that’s just me. There is a world of things to work with out there!

Ace, I’m gonna give you’re library a browse too as well if you don’t mind, and also check out what MIDNYTE DUBH Suggested. Thank you guys for the keeping up on the push to always help me better myself.
