Just 12 players again?

i thought that like we got 24 player lobbies in FM6 that we would have gotten the same for FH3. Especially because the map is x2 the size of FH2.

I’m okay with this because in multiplayer people just try to drive into you anyway. The less people I need to dodge the better.

What is the actual advantage of 24 players over anything less? More people to bash or to bash you? More tie ups in the first turn? More kids (regardless of age) that only believe in ‘win at any cost’?

Why arent they rising max players from 12 to 24 like forza 6? Especially with a map that big and freeroam 24 players would be perfect.

For online road trips and whatnot, I understand limiting the number of players. Having too many cars in a race can be a problem, especially when a lot of those cars are driven by people who don’t know how to use the brakes.

However, I think online freeroam would benefit from an increased player count. It’s extremely rare for everyone in the lobby to join races in freeroam, so it’s very unlikely that there’d be too many cars in the race. You’d just have, say, six or seven players instead of three or four.

Probably because anything more than twelve players would exceed the performance limits of the game. But I’m with you, 24 players would have been nice!

Hey thats 4 more than you get in Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2

Isn’t it because its the demo? There might be 24 in the actual release.

No probably not.

They have stated that it WILL only be 12. But honestly, I hated 24 people. So many people just ran into each other, it made “racing” a nightmare. 12 is a good number. 16 would be the sweet spot, in my opinion.

More will be good, But i’ll be happy with 12

It’s 12 player online multiplayer, and 4 player online campaign co-op. There doesn’t need to be more than 12 players really, otherwise that would destroy game performance. Even GTA V struggles with the 32-something players it has, plus the game downgrades the graphics when you go into GTA Online to make compromises. This game wouldn’t even be able to handle 1080p/30fps on console with 24 players. Especially with the way the graphics look now. On PC that would be a different case, but with cross-play it just can’t work out properly at all because they would need to work the same way on both platforms regarding multiplayer, unless cross-play was removed for PC and Xbox. It’s a lot more difficult to have a massive amount of players all on one map at the same time, ESPECIALLY for an open world game as diverse as something like this. That’s why true open world racing games never have that many players online at once at the exact same time. The Crew on the other hand was one giant always online server, to a point where you couldn’t even play the game itself offline at all. Need for Speed 2015 only has 6 players, Rivals had 8 players, etc. Online with 24 players in races would be overkill for performance and latency reasons in a game like this. It just will not, and can not work right unless you make some VERY SERIOUS compromises which in turn could severely ruin the whole experience.

Have you ever seen a 24 car street race on open public roads before? I didn’t think so. 12 is more than enough for an open world game that takes place on public roads, i just couldn’t imagine 24 cars duking it out on some of these narrow roads and forests lol it would be ridiculous and it would probably be the same as being stuck in traffic half the time not to mention the addition of pedestrian vehicles thrown in the mix.

To think of 24 people on the road at once, just look at a NASCAR race, 30+ guys behind the wheel…

In my opinion, Turn 10 ruined Forza Motorsport by having 24 racers. 16 would have been okay but 24 sucks.

It was the kick feature, not player count that ruined it. There were plenty of 12-18 people lobbies that were trashed by 1-3 intentional dirty drivers.

Sure. I’ve never seen a person be kicked in Forza 6. Never gonna get half the lobby to vote against 1 person.

They just needed to enforce penalties or make cars go invisible if they close with a high rate of speed. So many options, unfortunately the DB drivers ruin it.

Probably because there’s more less serious players in FH than FM and knowledge that there were a lot of issues caused by the less serious players in FM when lobbies went up to 24. And then there are no rules for racing in Horizon (contact and cutting are encouraged) so at 24 all you would have is a giant wreck fest of at time hilarious proportions. I don’t care what they do. I’m more concerned at being unable to drive the classes I want online.

24 is too many in this type of game. Bringing it down to 12 also means those system resources can be used elsewhere.

online free roam should be like 100 people, or at least as many as humanly possible, with a proper car park somewhere to meet for cruise gathering, a designated drift track an drag strip next to it, an maybe even an ice cream van. on h2 with 12 people was boring, generally couple drifting couple on drag strip, few in the garage playing with cars, most the time you end up driving about by yourself
