Isuzu has never really stood out among Japan’s big six manufacturers, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda and Subaru, all of which have a long history of making and exporting road cars. However, a partnership with Lotus in the late 80s, combined with the Japanese financial bubble, resulted in this, the 4200R sports car. The engine as related to the C4 Corvette ZR1’s powerplant, and developed 350 PS. The whole car was full of futuristic tech, including active suspension, a navigation system, a video deck, a high performance audio system and, for some reason, a fax machine.
