Is there any chance of T10 adding an option to disable the 'Weak Network Connection' warning?

Because the career races are so pitifully short I do most of my racing in private multi-player lobbies, and sometimes see this message popping up even when on a wired connection. It doesn’t seem to indicate any difference or drop in the the performance of my race (which makes sense seeing as it’s just me and the AI), and even if it did there wouldn’t be anything I could do about it, certainly not mid-race anyway. All it really serves to do is distract and remind you you’re playing a game, so an option to disable it would be very much appreciated.

Networking is Xbox LIVE, not Turn 10. If you have issues, see these Xbox Support suggestions for Networking: Xbox Support

BTW - There has been a warning in the Settings/Network section, “The following service is experiencing issues: - Purchase and Content Usage For a more complete description go to Xbox Support” That information comes from Xbox LIVE, unrelated to any particular game.

Are you saying that the ‘Weak Network Connection’ message that appears in the bottom-centre of the screen during races in multi-player lobbies was put there by Microsoft, and only Microsoft could add an option to Forza 5 to not display it even when it detects what it determines a weak connection?

I’m aware of the ways to improve network performance for online gaming, but since I’m switching ISP in the next couple of weeks, and there’s no noticeable performance drop of any kind in my private multi-player lobbies with me and 15 AI anyway, I don’t really see much point in going through them right now.

I rather they add an option to disable all in-game chat. That alone would free up some of the network and make that weak network message go away! I do not want to hear people rant and swear, their kids, pets, friend and/or partners screaming, neither their terrible choice of loud music or their phones ringing, etc. I’m really annoyed I have to keep muting each person individually for a feature I never use!!!

They used to have a feature like this for xbox Live on the 360. I would check using your 360 (if you have one) or on Account with Xbox | Xbox and see if you can disable chat. There is probably still an option somewhere in the consoles settings or online.

Seeing as they are yet to re-label one of the turbo conversions from “race springs and dampers” i doubt very much they would bother to remove the weak network sign.

The networking structure is Xbox LIVE. Forza Motorsport 5 is one of two full games hosted in The Cloud, and the matches are hosted there, not on someone’s connection as in previous Forza Motorsport versions. That is Xbox LIVE’s structure, not FM5.

I’ve been having issues of suddenly disconnected to LIVE on Xbox One today, as have other folks. Something in the networking area is changing the NAT settings from my normal OPEN to Moderate and then Strict. Read the link I posted previously in this thread, and you’ll see when your NAT setting drops to Strict multiplayer/online functionality goes down the tube.

This is the thing though - I’m not getting any functionality or performance drop whatsoever. I’m only playing against AI in a private lobby so NAT shouldn’t have much to do with it. All I want is an option to not have the message appear on-screen. I’m not sure what about this is hard to understand.

Yes, it is easy to understand and clear.
And I do agree with all you say, and I agree it’s distracting and pointless, during the game.
An option to disable it, or another way to deal with the problem, would be good.

Cheers

I’d like a message that says, “You are the greatest driver in the world!”
