Is it me....

Or is FM6 way more difficult than previous games? I skipped 5 as I’ve only just got an Xbox One, but my word this game is hard compared to FM4.

I used to play with medium difficulty AI opponents and would usually win with relative ease. Currently with the easiest AI I can only get 3rd, getting nowhere near the top 2.

Don’t get me wrong, I welcome the challenge. But they’ve definitely ramped it up a notch.

Note that Drivatar difficulty and performance is under investigation.

But yes, I think it takes more care on throttle, braking, and steering on the Xbox One games than FM4 and before.

LINK IS NOT WORKING BUD

Check your browser. It works fine for me.

Interestingly, it doesn’t work for me either in Firefox, but does in IE.

Rather more on-topic, the worst car for difficulty by a country mile that I’ve found is the Lotus Type 49. I simply can’t drive it - it’s like it’s on ice. I put on STM and dropped the drivatars to the easiest level instead of my normal above-average, and could still only manage 4th after two laps of the Nordschleife - and that felt like I’d had a physical workout. I then tried in the McLaren M2B, and while it was twitchy, it was at least driveable - but the Lotus was just a sea of wheelspin-based disaster. I’ve had no problems with any other car!

I am also coming from FM4 and I feel the same way. Everything seems much more sensitive and it takes a lot more concentration to keep the car on the road. That mixed with the Drivatars, who range from slow and aggressive to fast and professional and everything in between.

I agree it’s refreshing, but holy crap is it a bit of adjustment!

on 360 forza i could set the cars to the highest difficulty and win with ease.
on FM5 i tried that and the butter tire physics just destroyed me. i knocked it down 2 levels and was able to struggle out the occasional victory after battling the terrible tire physics.
on FM6 i’ve gone back up to the 2nd highest difficulty setting but the rubberbanding is VERY noticeable in FM6 so i’m thinking unbeatable will just make me mad. so i haven’t tried it. but i’m not having any difficulty on the setting i’m at now with the new physics and at least a few minutes to tune things.

if you have complaints about FM6, go Play FM5, it makes FM6 look like the Sistine chapel making out with the mona lisa.

Or the fact all the cars you drive have to be modified… I call that stupid!

I also don’t like this. It’s ok to upgrade from like B540 to B600 or so, but when a classic hot hatch is in the low Ds and you have to make it top of C class that just ruins the experience. It was the worst part of Forza 5 for me. I much prefer the Horizon 2 approach where the opponents automatically upgrade just enough to match the car you enter.

I’m in the first championship after the introductory races. I tried upgrading the car I chose (Mazda MX-5) only to be told it’s now illegal for that championship. All I did was improve the brakes! It does seem, despite the cars apparently being a very similar PI that the top two are just faster than everybody else. I don’t claim to be a particularly good racer (hence me using easier AI), but I would expect to be able to give the front runners a battle, but they are way out in front, and I’m talking several seconds.

I love the feel of the game, I love how it looks and sounds. But it’s evident something is not quite right. With the easiest AI level, I should really be creaming them.

Coming from primarily FM4 with extremely limited experience with FM5, I didn’t really find that to be the case honestly. I started my first race on expert, ramped it up to pro and then unbeatable over the next couple races and it’s a tiny bit more challenging, but that’s largely attributable to the buggy lead AI that takes a massive lead right off the line, but I’m usually caught up by mid point in the race.

I agree with the comment regarding FM5, if you want to see a massive departure from what you’re used to give it a try. Or on second thought, save your money and don’t bother, but trust me FM6 feels worlds better and much more familiar.

Difficulty is horribly unbalanced, so much so that I need to keep switching drivatar difficulty levels between Expert, Pro and Unbeatable to get a decent race, which obviously isn’t ideal.

I have them on highly skilled and have no trouble beating them also race with no assists or racing line

Overall I feel it’s definitely a more difficult game. Rain and night racing are inherently difficult for one thing, plus you have to come on the podium in every race to proceed, putting a lot more pressure on you to get every turn absolutely right, however many rewinds it takes. If you’re strictly a clean driver then it becomes even more difficult too, as the top drivers have a habit of speeding off into the sunset while you’re trying to safely navigate the first corner.

They say a race is easily lost at the start, but I don’t think that’s what they meant, heh.

Highly Skilled is a relatively low difficulty setting, mind you.

Me too (minus the braking line), but they ARE very inconsistent nonetheless. Sometimes they give me a headache, sometimes they’re a breeze to shoot through. Something is off.

If you are still having problems with 1 or 2 AI drivers being ALOT faster than the rest, as soon as you get into the game restart the race then it should have cured that problem.

FM5 was an adjustment from FM4 but FM6 is alot like FM5. You’ll get used to it. The funny thing is that I recently ran some FM4 races to try to get my garage to sync for the 5 mil credits and I couldn’t finish in the top 5. I’m just not used to the more forgiving physics of 4.

I done the same thing and I agree 100%.
