one thing to bear in mind is that it’s Thanksgiving in the US from tomorrow, so it’s a public holiday. Hopefully they’ll be able to help you before that though.

Had exactly the same thing happen to me today… was Level 224, with Level 24 collection (250+ cars). Lost all my cars, mod cards, driver outfits (70+), And my championship progress was completely reset.

I emailed forzafb@microsoft.com earlier today, and I’ll share anything they let me know going forward.

no news unfortunately, I would like to know from TURN10 whether I can play from the beginning or should I wait ??

hello, last night I did the tests, eliminating the game with all the rescue files from the console when I restarted the new game installed I managed to connect to the cloud
I do not know if it still works today or we are at the starting point
if you want to try it but I do not take responsibility for it

  1. make a backup copy of the external hard drive of everything, (game + save)
  2. delete everything from your internal hard drive (game + save)
  3. installed game.
    at startup should sync everything

Similar situation happened to me yesterday around 9:30 pm Pacific Time.

I had completed the Nurburgring 125, and was one race away from 100 % completing first race series. I completed the main game (Driver’s Cup) last week, and moved to Tier 12 several days ago. Game seemed a little sluggish and after running some long races and playing a lot I thought I would clear the cache on the Xbox One Console. I exited to the Home Screen, then quit the game. I did a hard reset on the Xbox One (held power button for 10 seconds). When I rebooted the Xbox One and re-entered Forza 7, it went to the initial beginning of the game asking me to choose a character. I knew something was wrong, as my game save data did not load - so I did not proceed forward. I sent an email forzafb@microsoft.com last night, but have not heard back so far.

Game save data should be:
Time played: 6d 15h 2m
Collector Tier: 26
Driver Level: 191
Cars Owned: 291

As with others I am praying progress can be restored. I was planning on plinking along and 100% completing all race series. I had about 2 million credits. I checked Forza 5 and Forza 6 and both were fine. If progress is truly lost, I would have to rethink everything. I don’t know if I could face re-doing all the work and effort.

Forza Support emailed me requesting additional troubleshooting information:

What platform are you playing on? (Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X)
What were you doing the last time you played? (Races, driving around, designs, tunes, etc…)
Have you attempted to import anything from previous titles before?
Were you presented with a “Sync” notification?
If so, did it complete?
What OS version are you on? You can find that by going to Settings>System>Console Info>OS version. Please provide the info in both lines.

I supplied the answers to their questions. These are are all good/valid questions to troubleshoot with, in my case however I don’t believe I was doing anything out of the ordinary as I documented. Just keeping everyone up to date on progress.

Exact same problem as everyone else. Mine reset at 4:35pm GMT automatically as it came up with the intro video so I knew something wasn’t right. If anyone at Turn 10 reads this;
Stats: Driver Level 80 (was until reset)
Collector tier 11
Time played 2+ days
I hope I can get the progress back and FYI I did send them on the email address as well.

Got an update to share. Was emailed back by Forza tech support -

They have restored all my VIP and specialty dealer purchased cars, and previous gifts I lost. Also gave me the cash equivalent to all the cars I lost (over 280 worth). But have not restored my driver level, or championships progress. I asked about that, but have not heard back. I’m glad I can essentially restore my car collection, but not keen on recompleting the 85% of the full championships I had finished.

Stay tuned.

This does not bode well, as it would indicate that they don’t back up cloud save files regularly, or that they somehow lost the backups.

Considering some of us reported this well before the FIRST patch, I don’t see this as an easily fixed issue. Launching the game is like playing Russian roulette, who knows which crash will take you out.

This just happened to me tonight…
Sent the email to Microsoft, I really hope this get resolved, as in really quick. My driver level is 262 with 318 cars…woo-sah, just gonna take a deep breath. Would just install it on my PC, oh wait… woo-sah.

I have multiple cars from the speciality dealer in the #60’s and #70’s
My time played is: 10d 9h 47m
Somebody make this right, I paid for the beta test (Ultimate Edition). Never a peep outta me, been buying Forza titles for years, so I just patiently waited for all the bugs and kinks to be fixed. This…wow. This is beyond unacceptable.

Same here. Turned console off several hours ago as usual, now after restarting, everything is gone. There was no sync issue or even a message about that.

And i hope that they will be able to restore exactly the cars i had, because it will not be helpful if i only get the money they were worth. Bought a lot of Mustang 302 FE in auction house at good prices, now they go for a lot more. Same for a lot of speciality dealer cars, i had several of every model in stock.

If there´s no complete restore of my save game, i am out of Forza. I did not complain about the little or even bigger bugs…but this is not acceptable at all.

Oh boy, sorry to hear this is happening. Have not had this issue [on XB], but did have a few crashes when I tried to save some vinyls and car design. Looks like it happens when I’m trying to add to or change imported vinyl groups from FM6 on FM7 or change an imported car livery. It is saved when I re-enter the game, but I’ll sure be wary now how I save and changing those groups/designs. Keeping fingers crossed for all that your data can be restored.

Unfortunately I’m in the same boat now. Happened around 3:00am est. emailed the previously listed address with all the info.

If career progress is not recoverable and they only replace lost cars or cash equivalent then I’ll take the cash equivalent of what I paid for the game. I’ve been patient for the past 6 weeks or so, not complaining about all the bugs, VIP fiasco, or “coming soon” features, but this takes it to a whole other level.
