Firstly; The new Forza Horizon 6 is not out yet so we don’t know yet if it will include police or not. But I think it would still be cool to propose this idea regardless;
Forza has never had police chases in the games. Obviously not in Motorsport and also not in Horizon.
I’ve been thinking about how the police could be introduced and justified in Forza Horizon;
In FH3 they state that the street races are unofficial and not sanctioned by the Horizon Festival. In a way, they are illegal. This was I think not explicitly stated again for street races in FH4 and FH5 but we can at least assume they are still unsanctioned (and illegal).
Now, for Forza Horizon 6 I think it would be cool if the police would now be involved in street races. Why? What if the street racers would race without their special Horizon license plates to not get caught and penalized by the police and Horizon Festival? The police would just see a bunch of cars racing around through traffic without license plates and have a reason to go after them. They would race in events that are not closed off and with traffic involved endangering the public. That imo would be a good justified reason for the police to go after the street racers.
There could also be different type of street racing events; not just road races, but also drifting (Touge?) and drag racing (which is what most street racers do irl). The docks, back roads, highways and industrial areas would be nice realistic locations for drag races.
Another cool gameplay feature would be that if you’re caught (let’s say you’re stopped for x seconds or so), you would be fined by the police and your Horizon rank lowered by the Festival. It would create a reason for players to not get caught.
We would also finally have a use for some of the police parts available for some cars. Right now they’re just cosmetic upgrades. The devs could introduce different styles of police lights and bumpers.
Perhaps it would be cool too if we could also play as police ourselves in our very own customized police cars to go after street racers?
Cops and robbers could be a great playground games mode but considering illegal activity will up the age rating of fh6 I wouldnt keep my hopes up and they would be a massive nuisance especially if theyre in the open world if its a horizon story mission where you go do illegal underground street racing i see the possibility.
I’m not sure about “cops” and idk how forza would respond to illegal activity. I do still see merit in the suggestion though, perhaps a “chase" related game mode that can be played online or against bots. No set map, you simply have to lose your pursuers. I also like the idea of the old Need for Speed Underground 2’s “Outrun” races, where you could challenge a random driver to an outrun, gaining sufficient distance to lose them. The challenge with Forza is that picking an off-road car and cutting across open country kinds of ruins the point of this. It should lock you down onto the street somehow, but the route you take is up to you.
i like the idea because in all forza games there isn’t any ‘police chase playground game’. so in fh6 adding this idea i think is good, it’ll make the game more realistic and and add a ‘fun racing chase from police’ feeling.
yes it will be really cool, even in fh5 when i play online, sometimes there are cars in police customization and if they have the police siren they bang it on and chase behind random cars. it’s a great idea if in fh6 they add to this and a proper pursuit playground hub
FH3 always made it very clear that street races were illegal. “I’ve got another illegal street race ready for you”, Keira would say. So I don’t think that that should have any bearing here.
NFS Rivals is absolutely my favourite racing game and if they went whole hog on an idea of cop chases and weapons, then I’d definitely be down for it, but even NFS totally watered that stuff down after Rivals, so I kind of doubt it.
