In Focus 7-16-14

If you’ve been paying attention to our Twitter feed recently, you might have seen us mention a tweet from Mad Catz that referred to a whole bunch of special Forza Motorsport 5 liveries that they’ve recently created and which are now available to download in-game. Well this week in In Focus, it’s our pleasure to be able to introduce to you the creator of these liveries, and the founder of the BDI - Mr Jake Donahoe, otherwise known as BIG DADDY 5637.

Thank you very much Ian, great job.

Bonjour à tous , excellent travail du style de BDI

Bonne continuation dans la peinture et bravo aux soutiens des sponsors pour leurs autorisations .

Ok merci la!

Anyway … Very very very very NICE stuff. Love the liveries and I must say, hosting a track day … how cool is that!

Good jog Big daddy. It’s nice to see all those dads playing Forza. I don’t feel alone anymore. lol

Thank you Morc 57 and Brokenvegetable. Philyoda Not sure what you said, but Thanks if it’s kind words.

Jake, your designs are amazing, so unbelievable in fact, that scrolling through the gallery I seriously had to do a double take and look at the photos closer to see if they were actually real cars! The level of polish that you have been able to attain with the race liveries is fantastic, and gives new hope to someone like me who is always in doubt of their painting skills. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be able to reproduce lifelike figures or airbrushings to make a great paint. I have several ideas for some fictional race liveries, and I was wondering, how do you conceptualize a new original race paint? When you mention that you keep the layer count low on the smaller logos, is this a means of limiting detail so that the smaller logos don’t take as long to do? I was thinking of including some smaller logos for designs, but didn’t know if I should draw them larger size in order to enlarge for other cars if need be. Thank you very much.

Thank you Kdogg, when you go to start a race concept always create it with their logo in mind. Using their colors, style and design. As far as the layer count goes, we don’t have to be concerned about it as much in Forza 5 thanks to Turn 10. Forza 4, 3 and 2 was a different story.
