I'm almost ashamed of myself (not really)

So, I was looking into knocking out some achievements. Noticed I just needed to win a gold medal at the combined Ring track to earn one (the one where you need a gold medal at GP, Nordschlieffe and Combined). I look at my rivals and then think “Oh, man. (Somebody much better than me and next on my friend list) already ran it. Better look elsewhe…”

Wait a minute. He ran it dirty.

Heh.

Cheesy? Absolutely. Couldn’t stop laughing, though.

That North Loop is a bear, for sure. Working on the van one, right now. Can’t cheese my way through that one. So far, 10:14 is the best I’ve done. What makes it so tough for me is that I know I need to be more aggressive but I also know one slip-up and its ten minutes down the drain. I know dirty counts but one stop in the gravel and I’ll never make the time.

Even the ugliest goal looks like a breakaway on the scorecard…

You’re right, you should be ashamed of yourself.

It’s not “Naming and Shaming” if I mention it was you, is it? I think I’m only naming and shaming myself on this one.

Besides, I knew you were probably going to see my 13:00 ahead of you at some point. 13 minutes, yeah…that was cheesy. I did one on B legitimate that was about 45 seconds off of your pace.

And, was also clean ahem

In all seriousness, congratulations on joining RPM, Lou. You’ll definitely be an asset to them. Both due to the skill you’ve picked up so quickly and your documented desire to help others.

It was me? No problem then. I’ve only really pushed myself in D class on that track so far. Held the #10 spot on the combined track for about 36 hours, but its been knocked down quite a bit already. I’m finding it tough to get the right line around that course, so I’m staying in D until I figure it out. Feel free to beat me as a rival anytime to get an achievement. I can go run some dirty laps elsewhere to help you if you want

Oh, and thanks for the RPM comments… A few teams showed interest, but Swerve really kept pestering me, I had to say yes just to shut him up

Lmao. You and I have completely different memories of what happened. Note: I cannot held accountable for things that come out of my mouth when intoxicated.

I have no recollection of the events in question… I didn’t inhale, and I did not have s… well, that’s enough politician speak for one day

I thought you knew I did it and was razzing me for it. I don’t know, Lou - 13 minutes, can you handle that?

No need to run any more dirty laps on my account. You have served your purpose. You may now return to your regularly scheduled program of driving past me like I was parked.

A clean lap is a clean lap, especially at Nurburgring: it does give a wicked boost to the rankings. I drove the Rush Hour cheevo this afternoon, largely to learn the course in prep for next weekend. Running in the R class rivals, the first 10 laps brought better and better times but more frustration at sliding around on tires that seemed to get more slippery on each lap. Finally I wrecked, saved out, checked my place… Top 80% yay! Next I tried slowing down, taking one lap at a time, put in a couple clean laps: top 6% holy moly.

Driving The Ring I kept thinking “I feel like I’m speeding a car down a bike path through the woods.” The 2.4 hours at Nurburgring is going to make LeMans look like the Indy Oval!

Pretty good description, Bob. This is my first time with the Ring and it is definitely challenging. I’ve got a pretty good grasp on it for B Class and below (which is what I usually drive). But, I hear you on the tires with the higher end stuff. The McLaren in that Spec Challenge loves to get away from me, even on straights.

I’ll just never be a big fan of the marathon tracks. My time to play is usually limited (and not “four hours a day”) so when I see ten minutes flushed down the drain because of one bad turn, it really stings.

I love it when my friends run a dirty lap and then I post a clean, faster lap. But then my friends are not all that fast and neither am I.
