Hey guys! Soon, I will be buying a PlayStation 4. The Xbox One just does not interest me. It seems to be much too focused on Kinect, apps, live TV, Skype, and all of that other useless stuff. Apps? I have an iPhone. Live TV? All I have to do is press one button on my remote and I have live TV right now. Skype? I have a laptop right next to my bed. The reason I buy a game console is for GAMING. I have the other things already. I just want to play the newest and most up-to-date games. Yes, you can still do that on the Xbox One, but not as well. Plus, I’m looking for a BRAND NEW gaming experience and I believe the PS4 is the answer to that. I will miss the controller and Forza Motorsport, but other than that, I’m good. I’ll be saving $100, and I’ll still be able to play great racing games like Gran Turismo 7, DriveClub, The Crew, Need For Speed: Rivals, and GRiD 3. The PS4 also looks a lot better as a console. It’s small, sleek, and modern, whereas the One looks like a huge old VCR player. So anyway, if anyone else is making the switch as well, feel free to add me on PSN! My name is the same → JaySkoon93. See you guys later! It’s been fun!
P.S. Not that it really matters, but I know a bunch of you don’t recognize my Gamertag and that’s because I changed it a while back. I used to be JBSX36072.
Dear Turn 10,
Please know that this is hard for me to leave the Forza Motorsport family. I have loved your game since Forza Motorsport 2, and I have pre-ordered every single one since then. You guys do a fantastic job and, in my opinion, make the absolute best console racer there is. Too bad you don’t want to multi-platform. Goodbye!
Obviously this is your decision, but I would respectfully disagree that the Xbox One is too centered around apps. The apps do not at all get in the way of the gaming experience that I have had on the Xbox One. If anything, after playing the PS4 they are more intrusive on there. The apps are just extras, and for Microsoft it really is a smart way to go because I don’t see “just gaming” consoles lasting until a next generation. The Xbox could though because it is an entertainment machine. As for gaming, it feels so much better on the Xbox One. The fact that you don’t need to quit the game to go to the home screen is very nice. The controller still has the old controllers feel, but updated and more comfortable. The triggers are smooth and the rumble vibrations really help the experience, especially in Forza and in shooters.
I have never liked the PS controllers because I don’t like the analog stick layout. I had a PS1 and PS2 before getting, or even playing, and Xbox 360 and hated the layout then. After switching to the 360 I never wanted to go back.
I don’t suggest that you don’t buy a PS4, as a matter of fact I would recommend you buy the machine you want. But I also recommend getting an Xbox One in the future when you can afford it. I regret missing out on the PS3 and all of the great games that were exclusives, but this generation I went for the Xbox One first, and after building a PC, maybe in 2 years once the games Sony said were going to come out for the PS4 release, I will get one. But until then the Xbox One is a great gaming system that I would recommend to anyone. In no way does the console itself force any form of apps or live TV on you. In fact, I don’t even know how to get to the live TV section because I never bothered looking.
Personally i don’t think the xbox is focused too much on apps. I mean sure you already have 90% of these apps on your phone/tablet/laptop/similar devices but having them there is a great addition. Sure you may only have to press a button to have live TV but some people have a separate box instead of one being built into the TV. Again skype, sure it’s on your laptop but it’s a great addition just in case.
You make it sound like the Xbox can’t play games at all. Honestly does looks really matter? It gets the job done well so why does it matter that it looks like an old VCR?
I don’t understand how buying another console is going to save you $100? It’s going to cost you $399 more is it not?
Anyway regardless, i know what you mean about the Xbox one, this gen launch has been disappointing in many ways. But if you think it’s any different in the sony camp, it’s not. They have both raced to market and don’t have enough titles to back up their consoles right now. We’re all in the same boat! Good luck regardless dude!
The only racing game PS4 has right now is Need For Speed Rivals.
GT7 isn’t out for at least another year, most likely two.
No one knows when Drive Club will be out after the amount of times it’s been delayed.
I’m not sure when The Crew will be out but I don’t think it’s soon.
Grid 3 isn’t even a thing right now.
