That’s sad for them and it could happen to any of us one day, BUT, I would never expect the bar to be lowered for me if I was disabled like that, and I would find it quite patronising I think. It would also spoil the game for everyone else who would suddenly find it too easy. Games are supposed to present a challenge and if they lower the bar much more in this game it’ll be on the floor anyway.
I can see what you’re saying. But until you’re disabled yourself you can’t think for a disabled person. That’s not to say you don’t bring up a valid point, the game would be too easy.
Games don’t always bring a challenge. Sims, Minecraft, Roller Coaster Tycoon non-scenario and Goat Simulator don’t involve challenges. And that could be what OP was referring to. A very casual car game.
Which brings me to my next point, is there a casual car game that we could recommend OP towards? As far as I know almost all of them involve challenges to obtain cars. Maybe old school PS2 games with “have everything” codes implemented in game? Corvette, LA Rush(unplug controller in garage, plug back in and back out to drive locked car) to name a couple.
Having played quite a few racing games I’d say that FH4 is about as casual as it gets, with the exception of some of the stories.
If OP is on PC, the more ‘hardcore’ sims are an option (Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, rFactor) which are not about collecting cars, but just racing them. In this case you have all the cars, and probably if you set the AI to ‘extremely easy’ it will just be an easy ride. Alternatively these offer options to just drive around a track alone.
Let’s hope future FH games have less challenge for the people who don’t want it and even more for the people who do
Horizon 4, and most horizons are as casual as they get, yes. 3, being my favorite was still a grind fest tho. I only have 50% done. Lol. Assetto Corsa is also on Xbox, albeit with some differentiations I assume. So that could work.
I’ll have to look but I believe it is. When I was looking for a new racing game(didn’t find one that was better than Horizon) I think I almost bought it.
This is a complete misconception. Games are supposed to be fun.
Some games use a form of challenge to be fun.
However, a lot of games use all the psychological tools of leveling and grinding for goodies and grinds disguised as challenges that have made WoW (and others after that) such an addictive game. I am not a huge fan of that, as it forces players to do (or, to counteract the standard response: tricks players into doing) something they don’t like to get to something they do like.
Rarely a grind is fun. The result of the grind is fun and that’s why people do it. It’s like doing a terrible job to get your money.
I understand why game developers huge psychological trickery. Why gamers actively support it is beyond me, but I guess it is part of the psychological trickery.
The funny thing with FH4 is, though, that most of the game is not challenging at all. I really like that part of the game. If I don’t like the setup of a race I need to win, I can just set everything to “very easy” and win. If I do like the setup of a race I increase the difficulty and have tons of fun too, ending up in 3rd place for all I care and then go again.
So in a lot of aspects this game nails it. I am just not a fan of the star cards and especially the hiding of exclusive cards behind them.
I didn’t know the Capri FE was tied to the star card completion … might put in a bit more effort there (on the face of it seemed a bit pointless) …get a little icon next to your name …whoop whoop
I have done all of the Showcase events but the star card shows zero … I guess I need to do them all again for this one to ping …
there are a few other things to do - I just wasn’t bothered too much with the star cards as the rewards didn’t seem that great …
I have done all of the stories and businesses … finally put some effort into the top gear one (got fed up with stig this and stig that ) but anyway … some of these need a bit of lateral thinking … like not following the satnav - plan your own route
with any of the stories one thing I have found useful is to “select a chapter” rather than just go for next - if you do this it tells you what is required for 3 stars before you set off
Thinking? Who needs thinking when you can just complain Much more fun.
I agree and seriously, there is little excuse these days to not know how to do these sort of challenges, when you can just go on YouTube and find a video of someone doing it. There’s no shame in getting stuck and looking up the answer like that. Though I find it is fun to figure it out yourself like a puzzle, but for those who can’t, there’s YouTube. It isn’t like it’s 1995 and you have to wait for a magazine to do a walkthrough article or something.
You want the game to work better for the disabled which is a good idea, but don’t skip the genius, why should they not have a more difficult version? Unbeatable is way too easy still.
The AMG GT 4 Door & X-Class are “exclusive” rewards which were achievable through the seasonal playlist. No one of us knows when they will become available again. You can search the auction house for them though.
The E350 Diesel is a reward for progressing in the “Top Gear Story”. Just complete every chapter with 3 stars and you will get it alongside the Track-Tor and Mercedes Benz G63 6x6.
