How To Be A Boss At Drag Racing

I know I’m kind of late to make this thread, but I still play Horizon 1 more than 2 because it’s more fun. I’m probably the only one crazy enough to make this list of which cars go how fast in drags but here it is. What I did is I made standing 1/2 mile runs with all the R1 cars and an R2 (we’ll get there in a bit). Location is Media Center, from where the blacktop meets the concrete by the bridge to the first bridge (the freeway, which is exactly 1/2 mile!). Depending on what kind of cars are being raced, you’ll be able to pick the quickest out them all from this list. In the 1/2 mile, peak MPH was recorded, now some cars will still get to the destination quicker (specifically AWD cars, GTR’s generally spank every other car in the game) so this list isn’t guaranteed to be accurate. Also, there are “tricks” you can do to make your car faster, like taking off parts that aren’t really needed for straight line racing (like narrow front tires, splitters, spoilers, etc) to make them lighter. I’ll briefly explain launching RWD high power cars. (Traction Control was on for these runs to be as accurate as possible). Rev up the car pretty close to redline (not bouncing off the limiter) while holding [A]. Let go of [A] and control the revs by adjusting the throttle, a little spin is okay since you’ll always have it with bonkers power. Once TC kicks in at 30mph, mat it. Shifting depends on which car you’re driving. Some cars have a specific redline but let you go over and some don’t. I suggest staying in it til just before the limiter kicks you in the nuts and then shifting. In real life there’s no extra power to be had past redline (atleast stock) but in-game it allows you to keep in the higher revs after shifts, which ends up making you go faster. Okay now the 1 R2 class car I included was the 1987 RUF CTR Yellowbird just because the short ratio tranny makes this thing crazy for drags (its faster than half the R1’s).
