I know a lot of people have their issues with the game, but this is the first Forza I have really clicked with online and can’t get enough of it.
I started at 4700 skill or so and have slowly been progressing up and am now at 4965. I’ve done this exclusively in the rotating featured multiplayer stock(ish) events and now Formula Mazda because I love those things.
But my question is, what does it mean.
How is the number calculated, how many people are above or below that ranking?
As that is now the top 1% of the ranking scores does that put me in the top 1%?
I usually do pretty well, but there are people who can absolutely smoke me, so I don’t believe I am top 1% of FM players.
So what does it mean and where are your rankings at?
As for now the ranking system is not working, most probabily because there are not enough players for online race so the game pick anyone avaible to avoid having empty lobbiers. As for how it calculate how many points you gain or you lose based on your race placement I’ve no idea of what factors are used.
It’s hard to be certain as, unfortunately, T10 has chosen not to have a public ranking list. However, the impression I get is that it’s probably very top heavy to avoid too many people being disappointed with their ranking.
I’m currently at around 4990 and, whilst I’m an ok driver, my win rate is fairly low as I have often been using cars which are a bit off pace and I’ve only really been playing online for about 3 weeks. I wouldn’t expect to be that high.
Some clarity on the rating system would definitely be welcome, for instance
Is any rating increase/decrease calculated based off absolute finishing position, or relative to where you started/qualified?
Are any rating increases/decreases adjusted based off the strength of the competition from that race?
Do penalties affect your skill rating or just your safety rating? What about collisions/vs off-track penalties?
Does quitting cause a rating drop (similarly, what about crashes/freezes/disconnects that are outside of the player’s control)
Do you lose rating over time if you don’t play?
Why is the rating displayed in the menu often slightly different compared to when you bring up your player info (I’m guessing it hasn’t taken in to account the most recent result)?
I feel it has more to do with the cars ability to hold the track than the driver.
I’ve been everywhere from 3900 to 4900+
I have a wild C6 ZR1 I drive. No handling all power upgrades, despite many wins I drop ratings when I drive wild cars.
This week I’ve been doing a lot of spec racing and E-class. My rating is climbing like crazy, only difference is I’m driving cars that stick instead of slide.
Safety rating I can’t figure out. It seems I’ll be in a straight wreckfest race with several penalties and I stay at S, 1 minor penalty in a race and I drop to A
The ratings never seemed to actually matter from my experience. Even at launch and just with touring cars, there’d be people a few seconds slower and faster than me in most races.
Very true. Regardless of your level and safety rating, you would expect to be paired with players of similar speed. Especially in spec series. It’s just not the case.
