So I’ve been racing C class, and been wooped by Evo’s lately, then I looked at the leader boards and noticed a few of them in the top 30’s on some handling tracks. So I watched a replay, and I know they’re still AWD, and decided to make one… I was literally 10 seconds slower than I normally am around pretty much everything, and I don’t use LB cars, it was 10 seconds slower than my no aero mr2. It’s not me being a noob either, I’ve got a few top 30 around the place, I’m nothing special, but not that bad enough to be running the times I do when I’m driving the Evo 8. Is there some secret to it? I can’t figure it out.
I just finished running an EVO 8 tuned by PTG in C Class it’s a forum exclusive on our team website pendulum tuning.
One thing I’ve realised with the EVO 8 is the powerband is very low. Even though you can rev it up to 8000rpm I need to short shift before 6000rpm and the torque accelerates the car so much faster. It sounds crazy I know and you might think I’m making this up but just check the C Class leaderboards my gamer tag is GR33KSNIP3R and I have multiple top 5 times in the EVO 8 and I have the fastest EVO 8 on nearly every track
That’s the most important thing I can tell you. When I first started racing the car when I revved it to redline all the time I was sometimes seconds off the times I actually achieved short shifting it
It is all about the engine swaps. You can either going with the engine that has the really early torque and power curve which gives a big bump in HP. What I have done recently is tried the “other” engine swap, the one that revs up to 8,000 rpms. I believe this Evo 6 is faster in acceleration and in top speed vs. other Evo’s (B Class). I will post the parts and tune on my YT channel tonight. It is a great car for momentum tracks. But if you want one that handles better go with the first engine swap I spoke of and put racing tires on it. Great combo, just make sure you gear it so it never goes over 5500 rpm in top gear. Power band is between 4,000 RPM and 5,700 RPM.
I just cant do it. so much shifting going through the gears to keep it low in the revs.
Admittedly, If I wanted to I probably could. I was so mad with the game back in dec, I havent played since really. That engine just made me more mad at how ridiculous it is, along with stupid drag tyres on circuits.
