How are community download payouts calculated?

I enjoy painting and sharing designs and vinyls in FM5 but I am mystified about how the payouts are calculated. Sometimes I get 10-20K payouts every day then other times I load up FM5 after a week away and get nothing. Its like if you don’t average enough downloads per day since the last time you played you just get nothing even though you may have acheived a lot of downloads since you were last online.

Does anyone know exactly how it is calculated? and is it the same for Tune downloads too?

I understand that the new system is to give T10 more control over the ingame economy but I really miss being able to set up shop like in FM4 and get paid every time I generate content for other players.

It is precisely that.

You need, I believe, 50 downloads or 50 uses per day to see any money. Uses can be by the same person as long as they are different races. At least you’re getting money. In FM4 and FH1 I made my fair share of money from my paints and tunes but in this game I’m yet to see a dime. I haven’t shared as much, but it’s also much more difficult to find decent work.

Thanks Hieronymus that explains a bit

When I first started in FM5 paints I thought that with the level of detail you could achieve that there would be some amazing designs getting put up and generating huge amounts of downloads but its seems that the best tactic to generate cash in this game is just spam as many of the less popular cars you can with mediocre designs in the hope of getting picked up by the ‘suggested design’ interface when cars are purchased.

In my opinion this ‘suggested design’ interface needs to based on how many credits people are willing to pay for a particular design as opposed to the ‘like’ system which doesn’t actually place any value on the design in question … I can like millions of designs without it costing me single credit and when a badge depends on liking as many designs as you can …most players just ‘like’ everything without even looking at it.

How is it that the same initial designs from launch are still the most popular on some cars? and some amazing designs by lesser known community members never generate enough downloads to make money for their designers.
