Hello, this is my first Motorsport title as I’m on PC and never owned any XBOX. (please check the screenshot above, the gap between top 3 and me and then the gap of drivatars behind me)
I race long/ extra long races always. I’ve experienced a very weird behavior and unrealistic AI from drivatars. My difficulty settings is “Unbeatable”. When i start a race from the midfield and as I work my progress towards the top of the ladder, I often see when I’m in position 3 or 4, the drivatars ahead of me are pulling away from me while the drivatars behind me are slowing down, then after I take 1st place eventually, the drivatars I think they give up on the race and become way too slower . I noticed that their average laptimes becomes slower as they are behind me and they don’t even try to overtake me. Is this for me or for everyone?
The drivatars in this game are awful in general, they cheat and use more power than allowed unless you restrict the cars to stock in free play.
They are also slow as hell, I did a 300 lap race with stock corvettes and vipers and they were over 100k feet behind me, each lap is about 7-8k feet for reference
I sometimes see opposite behavior where it seems like I pull slow drivatars to the leaders who previously were not going that fast.

Have you actually confirmed their laptimes become slower? Or does it just seem that way?
I ask, because, thinking about it…
If you are mid-field, and you catch and pass the leaders, that means you are running faster laps to begin with.
Once you are out front, you are likely running faster laps than you were running while in traffic.
So, it would be rather surprising if the cars you just caught and passed suddenly picked up their speed to keep pace with you.
In fact, that would raise all sorts of complaints around here…

.
Don is correct. There has never been rubberbanding AI in Forza. This is mostly a problem of perception as once you pass the leader and have a clear track in front of you you are now running faster laps while the AI is still running at the same slower pace you caught up to.
From experience this thing about Drivatars “giving up” is a myth, especially if you have aggression limit set to “off”. If they’re within range, they’re more than eager to make moves on you and you have to take defensive lines to avoid losing position.
Drivatars are actually quite smart. Fast guys in your friends list will attack and defend much more effectively. Whenever I do career events again and PTG Greeksniper shows up, he always makes me work for that overtake.
HLR guys are also difficult to pass.
What may happen is that they drop behind because they lose the ability to draft. So they’re not able to follow you as closely, and they’re not skilled enough to make up the necessary time to get near again.
Another myth I’ve seen thrown around from time to time is when people say Drivatars never fight for position. This one is very easy to debunk because, as I’m making places through the field, I see them in full wheel-to-wheel action every other race, lol.
I have noticed this AI-behaviour too. Raced last night, the AI attacked me heavily the first 2-3 corners but calmed sown much it made me wonder later on.
In fact, the AI tryes do do a lot of tacktical “team-work” in these games to avoid us from winning. Easy too see through thogh
