Heavy Metal Affliction is back after a couple weeks off due to E3 content support.
This week we are lucky enough to cover another Forza fan who is making his racing dreams come true in the real world. Rui Teixeira --XPR Rooster-- is racing a B-Spec Honda Fit in the Canadian Touring Car Championship, and he is currently tied for second place in the series.
Read about his calling to race cars in the real world and the world of Forza in this edition of HMA.
Post your comments about the CTCC, the story and if you have ever matched up against XPR Rooster in Forza.
Oh, and how is that Ring treating you? I’m loving it!
Great article John and enjoyed that video! I have to admit I’m not really a fan of the smaller cars when it comes to racing or otherwise but it sure seemed fast in the vid and most any form of racing deserves much respect. Awesome that he’s in 2nd place and here’s to hoping he’ll climb to #1!
Haven’t got out to the ring too much as I’m currently working on another project and don’t have much time to play but can’t wait to get out there and try it! Thanks sooo much guys (T10) for the attention to detail on that track and the awesome cars offered for free!
Thanks again to John for putting on this amazing article!
Transitioning from FM to real racing has definitely been a challenge for me. I don’t have any formal racing background, but have played racing games practically my whole life. Not everything I’ve learned from FM converts 1:1 but from helping my dad work on one of his Dodge Darts, I have gotten into a comfortable spot here on the Lombardi Honda Racing team. Our team is also pretty badass, and we wouldn’t be where we are right now without them.
You may have seen myself online, I race a lot on sites like Formula Forza (placed 4th in R1 2013, 2nd in teams), Xbox Pro League Racing (I hosted the SRT Viper Cup Presented by SRT Motorsports), TORA and Virtual Motorsports. Our club, Xtreme Performance Racing, is fairly new (going on about 18 months) and consists of some of the best and most battle tested guys I know from all over the world.
Great article and great race of CTCC for Teixeira, perhapss for the future the wtcc and a professionnal career. And thanks for the ring with this configuration.
I enjoyed reading this article and the pictures of the car. I wish i could get a kart at 7! Hes been driving for the majority of his life, Congrats to Teixeira. Hoping for much greater things from him!
great article,
I just recently purchased a Honda Fit its a fun little car to drive, I can only imagine how much more fun this car would be!
i think i need to start following the CTCC races and show some support!
Thank you for this article. I did not know the CTCC, and it’s a good discovery. This little Honda is really nice and should be fun to drive. Again thank you for the RING.

Nice article, I hope this young guy continues to receive the kind support he’s obviously had and has a long and successful carrier - he’s off to what sounds like a great start! “tubbed” - striped, equipped with a regulation roll cage and adjustable suspension is how all cars should be in Forzamotorsport from the “dealer” in my opinion (not that you asked). Also, multi-class racing - would love to see more of that in Forza! And the real world could probably use more series like CTCC.
Finally the E3 is over, HMA again haha
Another great reading, although this is not my preferred type of racing. Anyway, thanks for thar and good luck to Teixeira on CTCC.

Thanks John!
informative Article, before that i never heard of this Championship.
With your Articles i become Inside in Racing Leagues which are not so popular.
Regarding the Ring, i wish to thank Turn 10 for this amazing Work.
After finishing the Endurance Race at Le Mans I am very excited to race at the Weekend at the Nürburgring.
I hope this will be the same Fun like Le Mans, but I think it will be very tough to race for 2,4 Hours in the green Hell.

FM 4: 2002 BMW M3-GTR “Street Version”
I started my morning wondering what a unicorn car was in Forza Motorsport 4 to then trying to figure out how one even begins the journey to getting one. I hated that I was late to the party as I was trying to finish FM3 before moving on. After having a FM3 save corrupt, I said to heck with it and now have all Forza games on the go and I am loving it. It is interesting juggling FM2 with no cockpit view and no rewind with the beauty and innovation of FM5 along with everything in between.
Anyway, I am enlightened because I never gave it any thought that FM video game players might be go on to be serious racers in real life or vice versa. One of my first employers of 25 years ago is now a veterinary client of mine and his son, Thomas McGregor has a similar story of kart racing for years and now being the 2013 Formula Tour 1600 Pro Series Champion. I saw Thomas and his pets last week and he modestly said racing was going well. Little did I know. Next time I see him, I will make sure I know a lot more about his racing and all the racing that is behind these games I love. I will have to ask him if he too plays the Forza Motorsport games.
Great story John. It is obvious that Teixeira is dedicated to his sport. I don’t follow the CTCC, but because of articles like this I may check it out. Keep up the good work John, I like reading about racers and their passions.
