[HCR] #55 Mazda 787B, open source! TEN #1s - Use on Ghost League too!

Hi all!

It’s good to be back.

I was running this Mazda on some leaderboards and there were some decent results. Then I took it out on some wet tracks and somehow was setting unbelievable pace. I was beating some very proficient opposition using very proficient tunes by quite a strong margin. Evidently, the package (me and car) seem to work better on wet tracks. However given there are immortals who would put years on me, as much as I’d like to say I’ve applied some talent, the tune must take a stack of credit.

#1s:

Brands Hatch GP Wet - 1:17.913
Brands Hatch Indy Wet - 41.325
Nurb GP Wet - 1:49.947
Sebring Short Wet - 1:02.641
Sebring Club Night - 53.956
Sebring Club Wet - 57.920
Silverstone GP Wet - 1:49.568
Silverstone Intl Wet - 56.808
Silverstone Nat Wet - 48.573
Spa Francorchamps Wet - 2:06.531

Also my team mates have ran many top 5s with me in the latter couple of days.

Spa Francorchamps Night - 1:56.143 - Now beaten, still second.

The tune is up on my sharefront thingy or if you’d like to fiddle around with it, here it is:

Tyre Pressures: 29.5/29.0

Gearing: 6.10 FD, then as follows: 1.99; 1.22; 0.94; 0.77; 0.64

Alignment: Camber: -1.3/-0.9, Toe: 0/0, Caster 7.0

Anti Roll Bars: 1.00/25.00

Springs: Rate: 333.3/500.0 (lb/in), Height 2.8/2.8 (min)

Damping: Rebound: 5.3/8.3, Bump: 1.0/1.0

Aero: 551/888 (lbs)

Braking: 46% front, Set pressure to preference. I still have it at 100%

Diff: 50%/1%

I hope you enjoy it, I find it quite easy to drive and hence easier to push, which may help it in the wet. I’m sure this is only the beginning as the immortals come and beat me by decades and whether this is the way forward or not, I just hope you enjoy the tune and maybe you can get the same success!

Definitely great to see you back at it HMR Motorhead.

Will give this a go later today. Looking forward to your tune set ups on FM-6.

Thanks again!!!

Awesome to see you back on the leaderboards and In FM4 always loved your tunes - can’t wait to give this one a whirl.

Thanks guys! I’ll have some more tunes coming out shortly. Problem is as it’s early days not everyone has the high class cars just yet. But with prize spins and many of us starting with some rewards from playing the previous games, they are certainly not unobtainable

Hey Motorhead; I saw you beat my Rivals time in Time to Shine, and when I looked it up on the board it was #8 in Europe. I’m not beating that

I’ve been thinking about re-doing my 787 livery from Forza Motorsport 4, may have to go ahead with that once I’ve used your tune for a while.

I presume you run with TCS on like before? Also, would you say it’s easier or harder to drive than your FM4 version?

(Take 2, my first draft reply hit random Xbox issues?)

That lap was hard grafted, but I spent a lot of time at it as there was time on the table. There still is a bit but I’m satisfied. Unfortunately it seems Grosjean and Lotus F1 team didn’t see the tweet  I tried tuning the car for general use and leaderboards but it’s very hard to tame, and I’m still deliberating on what to do with it. At the moment all I’m happy with is the gearbox.

If you’re planning to redo the very livery you have in your signature then I’d love it. I drove countless miles and hot laps with it on FM4 and if you do it again, I’ll certainly do the same again.

From what I’ve gathered, TCS is very intrusive so I avoid it in anything up to A/S class. Anything with bundles of power will all but certainly need it. However if it transpires that the intrusiveness does affect higher class adversely too then I’ll eventually adapt. This tune is very similar to its FM4 likeness. Very similar to drive and I also think the settings are somewhat similar. I think the main changes are the differentials and the springs are more… normal

Also must add, updated OP with more times. Spa wet and a clean sweep of Brands Hatch in the wet.

I’ll be trying this when I get home from work tonight.

Wow man, it’s good to see you back!! Loved your tunes in FM4. Thanks for sharing!

Best tune I’ve used since starting FM6. Well done!

Thank you all so much! I’ll start some R class shortly as there is a great variety and there should be some great fun to be had!

There is another #1 to put up: Sebring Club Night - 54.266 (#1 by 0.974)

Two more! Spa Night and Silverstone GP Wet

Nice to see you on FM6 Motorhead. Might have to start playing around in the upper classes again, and see if I can get back to your level of pace in the proper race cars.

It’s good to be back and racing, it’s been almost a year since I was doing some meaningful racing, competitive events or hot laps. Now’s the best time to gun it, hit the ground running. It’s what I did at the start of FM4!

I started with some rubbish D class before temptation - and a bankroll - lured me into buying a 787B, I think I’ve earned it all back with it already!

Unfortunately one #1 was taken, the Spa Night. I was expecting it though, I’m still nowhere near the god status of some on those boards. I will have to work on a setup that works better in the dry, maybe taking off some wing. We’ll see when I get to it though.

I assume the build is all available part upgrades. Happy to see that the installed wheels are equivalent to the lightest wheels available, so I can keep that original look still.

brake pressure at 98% appears to provide the shortest 60-0 braking distance based on benchmark.

Thanks for posting, will be running this tomorrow.

Yup, should build up to 995 PI. Agreed, the stock wheels look much nicer. It didn’t look right using Dymags on FM4!

I hope you enjoy it SCH

Built this up a couple days ago and ran it in a career race at Yas Marina Full night, finished ranked #16. I knew that I left a lot of time on the track so went into rivals last night and ran it again, got #6 overall. I’m not a fan of the higher class cars but this one was great fun to drive. Awesome job on the tune.

That’s a very good lap!

The track is annoying and you do chase time as it’s easy to lose it there, with the chicanes and all. Very good time.

Cool it can be used in career - I’m almost at Volume 4 where I can use it - definitely be trying it out and giving feedback and racing it for as long as I can. (hopefully finish the Volume in it)
Little scared looking at the diff settings - but Ill definitely be giving this tune a work out this weekend - after that tweak a bit for the Indy Oval. I see a high whining rotary engine ear drum blasting weekend coming on… Wonder if the drag tires make the Indy Car come down into P class again - I hope not - like to see the Prototype cars go at it again.

*It would be AWESOME to have the #36 Minolta 88C-V paint to go on it…
