I just wanted to say thanks to all of the clean, fun racers in the DClass League racing last night. A lot of microphone use, chat worked fairly well, and I feel like the communication helped to deter most of the nonsense. People were learning and growing in those races, and that’s what should be happening.
I cant remember all the gamer tags, and I am nowhere near my Xbox, but I sincerely thank you all for a solid 3-4 hours of good fun.
Sincerely,
What would you say is the best car for the D hatch league. I’ve had moderate success in the Honda CRX when I’m not being hit. If I can get clean laps without getting struck I can usually start at the front and avoid the first couple turn demo fest. The Honda however does not have good acceleration. The car is better in top end speed vs its competitors.
I use the 97 Honda Civic. It seems like one of the mist used in the leagues. I don’t know if it’s the fastest, but I have two builds/tunes that are very stable and win races for me. I have them shared and you are welcome to give them a try.
I’m sure there are faster cars, but I like the 97 Civic with my tune, because it’s not easily knocked off the track. It takes a substantial bump to upset it. But, it may not drive like other people are used to.
I"m glad you had fun last night. I was in another lobby for most of it. I did pop into yours now and again as I had disconnection issues.
This afternoon session was a real mixed bag. Some good racers, some new names, some were rapid!!! However, we seem to be laden with a certain individual who is intent on smashing us off. Comes with the territory I suppose. Sad thing is they are not that bad. I’ve spectated and they take corners well. For me, I’m just left wondering, why???
I believe it’s just a learning curve in many cases. I have watched many hours of replays, from the perspective of every driver in the race, and I can tell you that the majority of accidents are the result of small mistakes or just blatant disregard for anyone else on the track. I think it comes from people being fast on leaderboards, who have just not had enough exposure to online multiplayer. It was too easy to climb the leaderboards by hot lapping in the past. With that gone, people are trying to adapt to something new. I think when people get more time on the track, with other cars, we will see less of the carnage. Of course, this is all pure speculation on my part. My opinion.
Kdog788, I have a couple. Perhaps my most consistent is a very grippy Renault Clio. I’ve shared the tune if you’re interested. Other cars I’ve seen are Renault 5 Turbo - great in the corners! Must also mention the Guilietta, but this feels a little heavy. I’m surprised there’s not many good VW Golfs out there!
I was driving a lot with mr hunty runty in lobby over the last days. I must say, it was a pleasure, still I have to learn a lot in the future. I hope, you can excuse them.
Learning is important. I understand that many people are learning. I give them room and try to set a good example by driving clean and being friendly.
It’s a fun game, and as you learn and get better it’s even more fun. I hope to see you on the track.
I want a decent car for it except the civic or a crx…tried a few last night. Vauxhall Astra 1.6 needs a lot of work tried several different builds and it got left comprehensively. Ford Fiesta 81 maybe has potential but I didn’t really experiment much with it. Will sit down and try some options at the weekend.
I will echo the first post, I was on last night and the driving standards were immaculate. There was contact but nothing malicious and very much only if braking points were missed and usually only light taps.
I’ve not been online as much this week with leagues, but I’ve enjoyed the D Class races when I’ve had the chance. I was bumped outta elite a week ago, and am back in it this week - A lot of new names, and race styles to get used to. I feel uncomfortable at times not having a working headset (will be buying one soon!), as I like to race clean, I don’t ever go out of my way to cause grief, but without being able to apologise directly in the moment to someone, should I lose my line I hate the feeling that I could be thought of as a “wrecker”.
I’m going to try out some cars I haven’t yet later on today, and perhaps try and dial in a competitive tune for my cosworth (it’s just a little slow on the uptake). Civics seem to be ruling the tracks for the most part, but just as with any race, starting pos, and/or having some patience in those first few turns can see you placing well with most of the cars available.
If you find anything do share, at the moment I’m persevering with the Astra but even tuned to get top 1-3% pace it’s still nearly seven seconds slower than the fastest civic times (in rivals). Part of that will be the driver but seven seconds is an age!
I must say, the wrecker for me tonight was the technology. Not sure if it was my XBox, local connection or Forza servers. It became more stable as the night progressed which meant I could stay in the lobby longer.
Old Hippie, I think you’re right. Most accidents are mistakes. But not all, I’m sure. I also see acts of retaliation which is depressing.
Stocki, thank you. I don’t remember us colliding. I do remember being behind you at Long Beach and you pulling off a fantastic brake and swerve move that prevented a pile up.
I race in d class lobbies a fair bit and can tell you the '97 is a dominant car. I’ve stopped using it altogether at the moment because I’ve got sick of a number of ‘fastish’ racers coming in to lobbies and blowing the rest of us away - and want to take them on with something else which is competitive but a bit less commonly used. I’m trying to build a Toyota Celica (with help from a friend) to take it on but it will struggle against a competent Civic racer.
As far as this league goes the cars which will give it a run for it’s money ,and ones I use in lobbies are the CRX (similar to the '97 in that it can be built to run grip thru longer tracks), the '93 Clio (which will do grip to GP length tracks well and packs a punch) and the '92 Golf which is a decent grip car. The Renault 5 can be decent as well if a bit quirky in it’s handling
I thought i need to get on here and say some good things about racing last night. I’m in the Elite division and had so many great races last night in the D league hot hatch. Played for about 2 hours and i wish i knew some of the gamertags in the lobby but everyone was racing like a pro. i only had a few taps on my rear bumper, no corner cutting at all, just fun and exciting racing. I really believe their is more good than bad out there, just wanted to tip my hat for some sweet D league racing last night.
Elite guys keep up that clean racing like last night!
The 88 Scirocco is decent and can be tuned nicely, same with the Clio WIlliams. The CRX is a nice all rounder but acceleration is brutal (bad) and makes for a poor race car as you spend a lot of time stuck behind slower cars. The 97 Civic is dominant, I try and avoid it but sometimes will whip it out if the lobby is dominated by them.
I might take a look at some of the Golfs at lunchtime/
I’ve spent the most time in the CRX but you’re right, the acceleration is so bad that even when some good clean laps have me starting at the front of the grid, these guys will wreck me off before the first turn because my car cannot accelerate fast enough. Maybe the Civic can give me a better shot.
Managed to tune my Astra to get within 2 seconds a lap of the league leader (Tdr something or other). Got annoyed by getting battered by a bunch of civic missile cars…extremely annoying as the civic handles like a shopping cart with a wonky wheel judging by the difficulty they have on twisty tracks with the Astra. However I just can’t live with the power on the straights and they tend to ruin my lines so I have to corner at civic speed.
But I can’t run a civic…why does the vtec sound like what muscle car fans pretend they sound like? Full on weed whacker, absolutely terrible…
I was in the league last night but had connection problems, getting dropped out of the lobby twice, and had freezing and stuttering. I posted a question about it on the forum. I agree that all the racers are clean in my division which is enthusiast, not just last night but every night, but what is the problem with the connections? I had to exit the league, but will try again tonight.
