Good thing about the stock-AI Trial

I was just musing about what I was doing. New playlist, got to the Trial. It used to be us vs cheating AI at maximum PI. Now the AI is the same but they’re in stock cars. Still a problem when driving a stock car. So upgrade the car and that’s when something clicked. Well, maybe, it’s a thought.

I’d not have even bothered trying to upgrade to compete with the max-PI AI because I don’t know enough about the system. When they’re stuck with a stock car I might be able to do my own upgrades.

That’s what clicked. This provides an incentive to investigate upgrades without having to worry too much. The difficult race can be retained by not bothering to upgrade anything.

Just a thought.

Absolutely upgrade, the “unbeatable” AI in stock cars is mostly a laugh. Haven’t lost a single trial yet.

Ai dont need pi to be fast, they adapt to the cars in the race , for example someone cheated on trial yesterday using s998 car and (tristan the Ai) used stock pi and was just as fast as the cheater. So if Ai use stock or upgraded really dont mather since they adapt to the players cars.

I can see what you mean - could be. That stated, I’d say it’s easier since they were in stock cars and there’s only one possible explanation. Anyway, still think that it might be a way of encouraging people to get into upgrading, which is a good thing.

Always glad to see people encouraged to make their own builds. I do share my builds on occasion (read: when I remember) but I’m only doing it to raise my tuner rank. I’m much more interested in teaching others how to build and tune than giving them my build sharecodes.

If the new trial format encouraged a few more people to start making their own custom builds, then I say it was worth it to tank AI PI. Just keep a few points in mind:

Don’t be down on yourself if your first few builds end up kind of bad. We all start somewhere.

It helps to have a testing method of some kind. Some cars that feel good end up being bad and some cars that feel bad end up being good. Rivals can work, though it doesn’t really help you prepare the car for a race environment. Having a couple of exibition races is better, though that does add some randomness to your results as some days the AI just doesn’t leave you room to get through or decides to throw the match just to mess you up in a corner. Having a friend who plays consistently and has a wide range of builds themselves to test against is best. But obviously that last option is a little bit more of a luxury.

Understand it’s a process. For me, the moment when building and tuning really clicked was when I was confident I could take an old build and rebuild and/or retune it and the end result would be better. It took a long while to reach that point, though that’s mostly because I was determined to learn on my own for most of that journey. Once I started discussing with friends, things rapidly got better.

Good luck!
