is it possible to get footage from my Forza 6 game to edit or do i need a recording device?

You can use the in built Xbox feature to record 5 minutes worth of gameplay but a recording device is easier and better.
An Elgato HD60 is the way to go for good footage. However, you could just stream on Twitch via the Twitch app on your Xbox One! Become a Twitch streamer and you can even export your videos to a YouTube channel! The Twitch app also supports the headset microphone and it’s all just so convenient. Give it a shot if you don’t want to spend the $, just be sure you have solid upload speeds from your ISP, or the stream will go through like poop.
If you want to invest, I recommend getting an Elgato.
