Getting a wheel off the ground with a hot hatch

I drive small hatchbacks a lot in Forza, but I’ve never had a wheel leave the ground while going through a corner.

Certain cars (such as the Volkswagen Rabbit GTI or the Ford Fiesta ST) should be able to accomplish this feat quite easily, but I’ve never been able to, even if I go out of my way to do it. It seems as though all the wheels are glued to the ground.

I’ve been driving around in both of the aforementioned cars (without any modifications), cornering as hard as I can to see if I could get one in the air, but all four wheels remained on the track at all times.

Is it even possible to do this in Forza 5?

I’ve noticed this, too.
Have yet to three-wheel a hatch in FM5.

It’s actually really easy to do, I just did it with a MK2 GTI. The issue is, it never looks like you’re doing it because there is a terrible fake shadow under the car that is permanently attached to the four tires no matter where they are so the shadow cause the car to look like it’s on the ground. The shadow only disappears when all four tires leave the ground. The shadow is also invisible from underneath, so if you can get the camera low enough, it will go away. This shadow has been a part of Forza since the beginning, but I find it to be worse in FM5 than in previous games, I think it’s much darker. This was likely done because the real shadow sometimes doesn’t line up properly with the car on some parts of some tracks. and the fake shadow will hide the misalignment somewhat. Try to take a shot on the corkscrew with the Atom to see what I’m talking about, the car’s shadow is almost a foot off at one point on the corkscrew.

This GTI is braking hard into turn 1 at RA. I do not have it running a clown car suspension tune, it’s pretty decently set up.

With the camera pulled back and low enough to be “under” the shadow.

That makes sense.

Still, a stock Rabbit should be able to get the wheel high enough so you can see it even with the shadow under it.

Of course, all the cars in Forza have the same amount of negative camber with stock suspension, so maybe they’ve made other “improvements” as well.

Neat

Hmm … let me guess before I click the link: an Abarth doing a stoppie?

Yep. Nailed it.
