I,ve read on one of Gear’s posts that he recently went through some of his game saves and it made me think - I better save my data in case something happens, especially here in my country where we frequently have power cuts without advanced notice, which I’m afraid might damage my HD. So my question - can any of the experienced guys PLEASE tell me the correct way to save / backup my game data - where on xbox do I do that, what’s the process and how do I reload that should I ever need it [ don’t want to get into trouble in case of reload]. Really don’t want to lose all my hard work. I’ll appreciate very much.
Back-up or duplicate game saves are NOT allowed. If you do that, you’ll get a “tampered profile” warning, and the only way to play the game after the servers sense you’re messing with the saved game files is to delete them and start from scratch. It is that way because back in the original Forza Motorsport, people would duplicate their saves, sell all their cars off, and then bring back the duplicate with all the original cars and sell again.
You CAN, however, have separate saved games going on with two different devices (hard drives, for instance) under the same gamertag. Perfectly legal, since you can only play one at a time. You must recover your gamertag from Xbox LIVE each time you switch. However, it is not a means to save portions of the game (such as Designs or Vinyls) because you cannot Gift to your own tag.
You can, though, move cars from one save to another via the Auction House by placing a car up for sale (“Save A”) then immediately cancel that sale but not resolve it. Then later when you’re in the other save on the second device (“Save B”) you resolve the auction(s). Those Tunes or liveries on the resolved auctions will be locked, even to you. DLC is accessible in both saves.
