Game crashing to home screen after trying to access rival/gift messages...again.

So, I thought this bug was fixed awhile back?

I can’t access any rivals or gift messages without crashing to the home screen again. This means I can’t download any VIP gift cars or rewards credits (credits aren’t a big deal for me at this point, however).

Any latest work-arounds I can use?

Have you tried clearing the cache and resetting the console all the way?

Also, one the main dashboard, highlight Forza Motorsport 5 and click the button with three lines. Then select the quit option and attempt to start the game up again.

Yup, fully aware of both suggestions you’ve made. In fact, I fully quit the game and shut off the console each night.

It turns out the latest VIP “Rivals recommendation” message was the cause. I did a few laps in the new Subie VIP rivals and it got rid of the message. However, it still doesn’t explain why the bug is back and whether or not I’ll be able to received the new VIP Subie.

Shutting down the console is normal. Holding the Big X button on the console until it shuts off, then removing the power cord from the wall - so there is NO power to the external power pack - waiting about five minutes, restoring the connection and then starting your console normally will institute an internal confirmation of Xbox software, and create a whole new connection to LIVE when you sign in.

If it happens again I would suggest the same workaround as last time - do something to change how many rivals messages you have by either beating friends or have them beat you.

Yeah, getting rid of the rivals message is the key. Can’t get my reward credits (not that I need them but that’s beside the point).

Snowowl, I know exactly what you’re talking about and have been doing it for the last five months (completely cutting off power for 5 minutes and turn back on). I do this every night and when I have these problems. Unfortunately, this seems to be another bug problem on Turn 10’s side.

I’m just starting Forza5, ran a few races then went to claim VIP gifts and the game’s been saving for over an hour after I clicked accept on the first gift. Anyone run into this and what should I do?
