How do you use this effectively when tuning and why does it plot previous dots?
I found this to be the least useful of all the telemetry screens. It plots previous dots so you can see where it’s been . . . the dang spot moves around so quickly.
But how can one use such instantaneous information for the purpose of tuning? If all of the spots stay ON the screen, then it may be useful.
This is only an idea but do you think the dots stay on screen for a while as an indicator as to where the high g’s are most commonly occurring on a given track? This would help focussing on specific areas of the car when tuning for track???
What do you think the chances are of turn 10 giving me some info on how to use the telemetry properly in game if I email them? That would help out everyone I mean there’s really no point in having it in game if nobody really knows how to use it and enjoy those telemetry features to the fullist.
This is a game after all and there has to be a reason for all of it to be there you know.
Proper friction circle chart shows the entire lap, not just last few seconds. Unless one can see the entire lap information, the g-screen is not useful. If the chart actually shows/records the highest cornering/acceleration/deceleration g’s, it could be useful.
FM telemetry has always been INSTANTANEOUS feedback, not over the lap feedback. Information is good, but it CAN be presented in much more useful way.
I don’t know how T10 telemetry designer expects tuners to use the telemetry info while trying to drive fast . . . Only way I can do it is to do the drive with screen on, DVR, then view afterwards. This is very cumbersome annoying. Goes back to the wish list of being able to view the telemetry info in replays . . .
Thanks for your reply mate, I get about half the telemetry but the game could sure do with a little info on each section.
I’ve just emailed Turn 10 with a request for more information on telemetry. I got an automatic reply saying that if its an xbox live issue or fm terms and conditions issue then to email a couple of links. I really hope they get back to me. Every tuning part has its own piece of helpful information. Why doesn’t each telemetry part and Why is it soooooo difficult to speak to anyone who really knows a lot about how all the parts of the telemetry should be used?
You can say don’t use them and tune through feel but T10 designed the game. They are all surely linked somehow!
Its totally ridiculous, its part of the game that know one seems to fully understand and therefore some of it is bordering on the redundant. They should have replaced the G meter circle with a big pair of tits(excuse me) then at least I’d know what I was looking at!
Lol
I just found some info in the forzamotorsport 1 game manual about telemetry, wow lol. The only game manual that has ever really helped with tuning from what I can tell.
The forza 3 tuning guide is good as well but doesn’t cover telemetry. The principles are the same I guess.
Talking about g-spots and bQQbs may get us banned but it’s hard to resist.
I am thankful that T10 has given us some tools to work with but since they are giving telemetry information I too wish it would be in a format that is far more useful. That said, trying to make logical sense of the telemetry is also fun.
Well I can confirm that the G meter plots where you’re pulling the highest G’s around a track. Can you still pull telemetry up on your own saved replays? Also making adjustments to increase the level of G you can pull is what you would be aiming to do with this piece of telemetry. Improving traction then checking this graph should tell you if you’re benefitting from those changes you made compared to before you made the changes because you would see a higher level of G.
^^I think this would be best for fine tuning when feel becomes harder to recognise
I had a go with it, i got the highest g shifting from first too second .i suppose this would be usefull in tuning gears. i think the g telelemetry would be good combined with the tire traction telemetry to try and get a good balance between power and grip.
Yeah I agree it will be best paired up with friction telemetry and I guess suspension telemetry tire temps psi’s and camber will offer suggestion toward what you could change. Ill personal use it for mid to long corners and the g’s in those. If rarely be changing from 1st to 2nd around a track so I’m not sure how to use it for gears though. I think arbs could be a good shout at what your supposed to use it for in steady state cornering
