So been playing the game since early release in the ultimate edition and as much as I am loving the game, it looks great and the new menus and UI is just what it the series needed however I have noticed a couple of things I am hoping Turn 10 can shed some light on.
1 - Class Rivals
So when getting used to the menus and playing the game I thought I would jump on to rivals. I am shocked to report as of last night there are now class rivals for each track. There are just VIP, Spec etc etc. No F - X leader boards which was one of the things for me that made Forza stand out and encourage racers to get the most of different cars etc with out having to race online. Is this just because I am playing the this early, has it been forgotten about or have they removed it for a very strange reason.
2 - Test Driving
This isn’t missing but boy is it a pain to get to and again why has it been moved/changed? I went to have a play with turning a car and get something shared. I did a few tweaks for a base build then went to press X to go for a test drive, this then took me back to the build section. Puzzled I looked down a the options and it said press X to go to the tune, I pressed this and then there is no option to go straight to a test drive. The only way I have found to go to a test drive is to create a custom single player race ‘Free Roam’ then as the race is loading up you can test drive from there. This is shocking why would you take this away?
As of righting this these are the two main things I have found to be missing and has left me scratching my head as to why these features have been removed when they are very random features to even think about removing.
Rivals - at this point it seems unlikely that class based leaderboards will be brought back as homologation seems to be Turn 10’s focus. If we are lucky they will bring the homologated leaderboards back into Rivals so we can race against ghosts etc. At present the only way to access the division based leaderboards is to complete a race either in career or free play and then press X to bring up the board.
Totally backwards way of doing things as is the test drive function but there you go. So far there has been no comment from Turn 10 about these 2 issues and I’m not sure if they will ever comment.
I have been playing for a while and some features have come, gone and come back again like the auction house etc but removing these features is very strange.
With how many features are announced to come later (Leagues, Forzathon, more Hoppers, Auction House) I don’t think anything else will be added. They could have just included it as coming soon as well. Say goodbye to previously existing features like leaderboards for career, drivatars in private lobbies or a storefront - though I am sure some will make a return in Forza 8 where they will be touted as the game’s stunning new additions, again not talking about the things that will be cut from the game to make that two year dev cycle.
I love how everyone is complaining about losing their leaderboards for racing when the drifters lost their leaderboards after forza 4, I’ve been hopeful ever since but turn 10 could care less, they can add whatever to the game but I will not buy another forza after this. I’ve bought the ultimate edition every year since it was a thing and it doesnt matter. They don’t listen to anyone or care what anyone says it’s less simulation then it ever was 15 year old kids that want a nice looking game with Arcadey game play is what they are going for now. Good job
