My friend showed me this and so I’m sharing it here. In order to get satin metallic or chrome vinyls in FM you need to:
Apply a Kevlar colour (either Gloss or Matte) → apply any vinyl layer, as this unlocks Vinyl Material adjusting → adjust Vinyl Material to whatever percentage you want.
I really do hope that this doesn’t get patched, as it allows for Liveries that could never be created before. Unless of course we get a new Livery Editor which allows for more than just Normal Colours on vinyls.
Didn’t know this. Thanks
I got to try this out. Thanks.
You can also set your base paint as chrome, then apply a base vinyl that covers all the car, then use mask layers to create chrome vinyls. Then make sure to use the vinyl material slider to adjust the glossiness of your vinyls, because by default they’ll be matte.
In general, it works fine. The main downside of this method is that the base paint may cover some interior panels (that you can’t apply vinyls on), some panel gaps (that vinyls don’t always cover), and some areas that are otherwise un-vinyl-able (which happens with some cars or bodykits).
With this one weird trick they don’t want you to know, you can get gold vinyls, carbon fiber vinyls, camo, brass, that weird rainbow flake color, wood, and so on, and so forth.
Here’s an example (with gold) in action.
That looks so good. Do you got any using this free to download?
If the question is whether I got any download, the answer is I haven’t shared it. But I’m not opposed to it if you want to have it.
I thought that was known before FM, as Mask Layers have been a thing since FH4, and metal colours have existed since FM5 and people just went around them to get the same effect. I should change the title of my topic
It’s one of those things that’s pretty obvious when you know it, but then you can spend a whole life not knowing it. I figured this would be a good time to share just in case.
It’s done. I have a few more in a similar style shared now, check over yonder for a peek.
