Full game only plays one flyby/cutscene sequence at opening screen; demo plays two?

An interesting observation ahead; bear with me, might just have been an oversight on Turn 10’s part but is interesting nonetheless.

For the Forza Horizon series, all three of the games to date have started up as follows:

  • Artistic screenshot, as follows:

  • FH1: a yellow 2013 SRT Viper GTS

  • FH2: a yellow 2014 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4

  • FH3: a black/yellow 2016 Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4, and a 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck

  • copyright notice and safety warning

  • animations for Turn 10 and Microsoft Studios

  • opening screen for the game, showing two separate sequences of car flybys (along with various venues & spots in game that would then repeat itself; and each sequence, would have a corresponding musical selection from the Horizon Bass Arena playlist). As follows:

  • FH1: ‘Language’ (by Porter Robinson), then ‘Show Me a Sign’ (by Modestep)

  • FH2: ‘Nocturne’ (by Keeno), then ‘Satisfy’ (by Nero)

  • FH3: read on…
    It is in FH3, that the observation comes up.

In the demo of FH3, two separate cutscenes are shown and two separate tracks are played (essentially, in the same fashion as was the case with FH1 and FH2):

  • ‘Ingrid is a Hybrid’ (by Dusty), over car flybys
  • ‘Waiting (Extended Mix)’ (by Oliver Heldens & Throttle), over kangaroos hopping and various racing and showcase sequences
    Proper version, with both of the cutscenes and musical tracks
    Here is a video of the way it appeared in the demo (am presuming this clip to be from the full game, but also noting that it shows version 1.0.0.0 at the bottom-left corner). The transition and second cutscene in question, can be found at 1:24 into the clip (and reverts back to the first scene and track @ 2:31 into the clip)

However, once I deleted the demo and then installed the full version of the game, I noticed that only the first sequence of car flybys plays; when the sequence fades to black and we would presumably see the second cutscene, it just repeats the first.

Not sure if this is a bug, working as intended, or even worth anyone looking into; just seemed odd, inconsistent with the other games in the series (as well as with its own demo), and a loss of the good efforts and artistry that were clearly put into the second FH3 cutscene.

They would rather play the game than watch a video

…as would we all, I’m sure.

But a regression (unexpected loss of functionality) is a regression, plain and simple. This is easy for Turn 10 to have missed (who waits through load screens, as a general rule), and for all anyone knows the change—if unexpected—may well be exposing Microsoft or Turn 10 to liability from the rights holders of the missing music in question.

Plus, the cutscene that is currently AWOL was a cool little part of the game—it’d be a shame to have it go missing for no good reason.

'Nuff said, at least by those of us out here in the bleachers. If anyone from Turn 10 has feedback, even just an acknowledgement of either “Thanks, we’ll look into it,” or “It was removed purposefully, and so is working as intended,” that’d be great. Thanks.

Yeah Devil is in the details. Could be it’s regression and they dont care about it either.

Or could be they needed the space on disk for the retail copy.

I know what you mean. The trailer that would usually play when you don’t press any buttons on the controller on the start screen? I believe that’s what you’re talking about anyway.

I think this is working as intended, I know it’s inconsistent but I just don’t think the devs were too fussed in the end. To be honest I didn’t like them because they interrupted the start screen music haha. However the FH3 start screen music is like a 30s loop on everlasting repeat and now I want the trailer back to break down the repetitiveness.
