Good news. When I signed in to FM7 today the drift achievement finally registered in Forzathon. Guess what I did last night in timed drift worked. What a messed up system. I was getting really frustrated with it last night.
Forzathon is a buggy mess, it works, kind of, but only when it wants to and only if the planets align correctly. It wasn’t this bad with FH3 and the formula doesn’t seem that much different. Hopefully, this is on a list of things to fix.
A couple of tips I found usefull through the power of YouTube…
If the game / forzathon event wants you to do X number of laps, do X+1.
If the event wants you to win X number of races, win X+1.
Quit out of the game back to the dashboard after you’ve completed the event (see above) Make sure you’ve quit the game completely, and reload the game, make sure you see the guy walking towards the Porsche, you know the pic I mean and then, when you’ve reloaded check the forzathon tab again.
What happened looks like you decided to take of the luggage rack only to find out it would not fit in the Boot. Why would you do that I mean its a Porscha you aint never going to get that luggage rack back on correctly again.
Had to do the Forzathon for the M-B twice this morning - tried first time doing Daytona 7 laps (requirement is 6), then did the P1 races all three in a row using Free Play and then the Hypercar race, finishing all according to the requirements only to find no credit in the Forzathon tab even after quitting the game back out to dashboard and then restarting. Then went back to Free Play, ran 6 laps at Daytona. Quit Free Play, back to Forzathon tab and it actually registered… Then ran a P1 race, quit Free Play, back to Forzathon tab and again it registered. Wash, rinse and repeat on the other two P1 races and the Hypercar race, quit Free Play for the last time and get the GamerScore update showing I had completed the Forzathon and earned the M-B FE car, only to have the game not award it to me until I quit to Home, restart and then go back into Forzathon… Still quite buggy; but as I keep reminding myself, I’d much rather the progress in Forzathon be buggy than the progression through Career Mode as I love being able to stop a championship after a race or two and coming back to it later that day or week to pick up right where I left off…
It took forever to get the drift event completed. Having never done any drifting before in the game I had no idea how the drifts were scored. I did get some very good tips from everyone.
Set the race type to drift.
Select the time you want the event to last.
Select your Porsche. The car does not matter just the make. I used a stock car with no tune. You might want to add power upgrades and a drift tune.
4.The lap does not have to be clean but for the points to count you can not spin the car, leave the course or hit the wall during the drift. Just because the awarded points in blue show up does not mean they get added to your score. If you do any of things I mentioned that invalidates drift and they are not added to your score.
Remember you have to earn 15,000 points in a single lap. Forzathon will show you the highest number of points earned during a lap. The point are not cumulative you have to earn the 15,000 in a single lap.
Let the time run out and go to the next race before you quit. You may even have to quit and restart the game to post the update to Forzathon.
Good summary. You can also set laps instead of time for the drift event in Free Play. I used Prague and set the number of laps to 4, which gave me some laps to practice and learn where the best drifting places were without bothering with time constraints.
Last night I thought Id give the drift challenge one more shot and barely made it. Then I got scared wondering if I should cross the finish line before the clock runs out or to let it expire while still on the 1st lap. Ive come to the conclusion that Im not good a drifting and I dont really care for those type of challenges. I didnt spend too much time on it but didnt really have fun doing it either. Was glad to get it over with so I could get back to other racing/series I was working on.
I’ve been trying to get the Porsche drifting forzathon challenge for days with no luck - multiple different Porsche, multiple different tracks, clean laps, dirty laps, hell even managed one great chain that earned it in one drift chain, but still no progress on the Forzathon challenge.
As for the post above, not sure what fixes were implemented specific to Forzathon, though the first couple look specifically aimed at it. This evening I downloaded the update first but hadn’t done the P1 series (3 races). I checked after completing my third race and true to form the Forzathon screen in game had only registered 2 of them. After completing the 4th race the achievement popped but that was it. I continued to complete the series and at the end of the 6th race, returning to the main menu area, then a car award popped up for completing that part.
Now to try the other comments above about finding a specific “drift mode” and try again
Such a shame they register so poorly in this as I just jumped back into FH3 for an hour, and managed to complete 3 Forzathon challenges in that in quick succession with no issues at all
Over on the FH3 forum is an excellent thread where players can discuss the various Forzathons and help each other out with the challenges and provide troubleshooting advice and information on what cars do and don’t work for each challenge.
Hopefully this thread can fill the same role for FM7.
[Mod Edit - thread merged, we can copy these tips for future Forzathon threads - MM]
To start off the thread, here’s a few useful tips I’ve noticed:
Do the challenges in Free Play. You can easily set up the race to exactly what you need.
Rental cars DO work for Forzathon. If you’re just starting out and don’t have a high enough ranking or enough credits to get the correct car for a challenge, go do the challenge in free play and rent an appropriate car. You won’t get XP or credits, but it will still count for challenge completion.
If a race doesn’t register for challenge progress, start a new one and quit immediately. This will usually force an update.
For challenges that say to race at a specific location (i.e. Mugello), ANY of the track variants will work, not just the default ones. I usually pick the shortest one. Do pay attention to the challenge though, in some cases a specific track variant is specified (i.e. Nurburgring GP).
If you need to complete X number of races in a car, pick a short track and set it to one lap with 0 drivatars. Same idea goes for complete X laps on a track, you don’t need any drivatars and can race by yourself. The only time you need drivatars is if the challenge specifically says to WIN a race. In that case, I just add one.
Is anyone else out in the Forza community having the problem with completing forzathon challenges I.E. 15k drift points in a Porsche in a single lap? … I swear I’ve done it in 3 or 4 different Porsche vehicles to still have nothing count… I want to do this forzathon because I really want that 356a in my collection … any help would be appreciated
