Lol again nobody asked for your help, and no, other games do not have a steering limit that kick in before understeer would occur. Let me repeat that so it can sink in. It kicks in before understeer occurs. I’m not asking for a lesson in going faster from you or car control, so I don’t know why you think I’m soliciting advice. Frankly I wouldn’t ask for advice from someone who can’t wrap their head around what I’m saying here if I did need it. As amusing as it is to listen to you try and teach us all how it is, what are you even doing here in this thread? You have nothing to contribute to this topic if you recognize the limit exists.
And contrary to whatever you believe, ! Doesn’t mean a fact…
Do you know why it kicks in before understeer starts? I’m guessing you don’t know why that is as you can’t understand the steering model that I explained.
As you say I’m not helping you & it sounds like no one can.
I would also like them to put it in the game. To see what happens when you turn it off lol.
I’m thinking the next post will be that their physics model is wrong because you can’t turn any more tightly. Your just understeering & now you can’t catch any slides.
Good luck!
As I said and something you don’t seem to want to acknowledge is that forza is the only SIM to have it. And as you have said with a wheel it’s absent. No I don’t and never will understand why you or t10 think training wheels are appropriate when you turn assists of and choose simulation steering, but you are both wrong. I’m also not sure why you assume I need your help or don’t understand how to handle a car, or the physics involved, you are wrong on that front as well. Your childish posts are getting old, so if you can’t post without being insulting, and presumptuous, I’m done with you. Grow up.
What’s sad is the devs don’t seem to want to acknowledge this and prefer keeping the game handling “semi-arcade” on a controller. Can’t tell you how much that irks me. frown
Very interesting discussion - glad someone created a thread to address this.
I’m on a controller as well and would love to see options to adjust speed sensitive steering and the ability to steer more around turns, if you wish.
All other games and sims have that, so I don’t understand why Forza has this restrictive steering model on a pad. IRL, you can steer as much as you want, at any speed.
Okay at first I thought the OP was crazy. I though “of course you get understeer when the front tires break traction” but after reading the thread I understand the complaint. I think it simply comes down to Turn 10 has created a racing “Game” for the Xbox. Not a racing simulator. Much like Halo or COD the quality of their game is being judged on the controls. To make the controls feel fun and be user friendly to casual gamers AND more challenging for racing veterans, they have created a few static control themes they have found work best for their game. These control schemes include may assists that mostly go un-noticed. (much like Halo and COD’s auto aim.)
Including detailed control sliders like Project Cars or other sims have, opens up some risk that users will have a bad experience. This could lead to poor reviews and lost revenue. I’m guessing we have what we have because Turn 10 has concluded this is best for their game.
Well, I hope this discussion bears fruit - I really would like the devs to consider adding options to dial speed sensitive steering to our preference. The steering being tied to braking and current speed is silly. There should be an option to adjust it or keep it OFF for those looking for a proper track driving experience.
I also ran this through a few friends of mine who own fast cars, some of them have a bit of track driving experience as well. All of them had big question marks on their faces when I told them “there’s this great sim on the X1, it gets a lot of things right, but when your front tires break traction, you can no longer steer into the turn”.
The game discouraging bad driving technique is a good thing but making the steering feel so linear on a controller like this, this has got to go. I don’t want Forza to feel like a simcade for the remainder of it’s lifespan. And NO, I’m not getting a wheel just to experience the physics in all their awe and glory.
