ForzaRC, Track Limits, & T10...

I’ve sent a message to the support team at esl to verify if they are going to allow this to continue as it is their name on this not turn 10 hopefully a response will return quickly

I’m with you on this one Harmonic. There is a reason why we all keep on seeing the same people in every competition. It is because we are the fastest in the game regardless of whether or not a track has clearly defined limits. IMO it is just a poor track choice by T10. The same people would still be at the top of the leaderboards even with proper track limits.

Seems I’m doomed before I even start…
I don’t know the " track limits " at Monza ( or anywhere else ), so I’m at a disadvantage to those who do. While they can get a clean ( dirty ) lap, my times suffer because I don’t know how to cheat.

Seems it’s a mess already, and I was looking forward to it and all.

It is not hard to learn them at all… Just look at a replay from one of the top times.

T10 is going to have to say something and change something quick or leave it how it is. I feel it’ll just be left how it is. The leaderboard isn’t going to magically change with the cuts policed out. It’ll end up being the same rankings with the average time just being lower. I’m doing the cuts and would still need to shave a full second off my time to be in the top 10. Im positive it would be the same without the cuts.

I like many on here am really disappointed by the way this has turned out with track exploitations. It has become a game of constantly looking up at the timer to see whether the game thought you cut the corner too much or whether you got away with it, which isn’t a fun way at all to be trying to find those extra tenths.
A blanket four wheels beyond the kerb penalty would make it black and white for everybody.

Surely it’s embarrassing for the devs to have these top leaderboard replays out in the open as the “best times” at monza in a racing simulation game, it makes the game look ridiculous.

I’m personally going to wait a bit before trying to improve on my clean 2.08 in the hopes the competition surely can’t remain this way

It sure is embarrassing and maybe that will push them to finally do something about it. And as of what I heard right now it’s not changing, which is fine. The reason I started this thread is because apparently people were opening tickets trying to get the top guys disqualified, I just wanted to know what is exactly going on how they plan to handle the situation before I went and did the cuts.

I’m just astounded it’s been pushed out into the wild like this, we’re talking about one of Microsofts few remaining flagship titles with a big budget and an even bigger reputation to lose, if it was need for Speed then fair enough, but it isn’t it’s a serious racing simulation.
As someone else mentioned it will be getting a lot of attention during this competition & its embarrassing.

As a franchise I’ve been involved with since the very start and hold dear to my heart I truly hope they fix this but I don’t see how they can at this stage

Agreed. It is just as embarrassing as the MLG stream where players were doing 360 entries into every corner, clearly making a joke of those who tried their hardest in competition. It shows that this community cannot take any racing series seriously and is massively disrespectful to those who put up to 300+ laps in only to just miss the cut. If this is Microsoft’s flagship racing game, maybe it’s time we treat it like one and not a joke in terms of competition. I get this EXACT same vibe by this corner cutting…

That’s the thing though. They didn’t specify on esl or anyone from t10 that what’s ever clean is clean in rivals. If you look at Formula E that happend recently they took dirty lines that was clean sometimes and this was ran through esl as well

The whole ‘Everyone can do it why is it a big deal’ stance is absolute ignorance. We should be actively trying to reach a solution, not giving in to an extreme issue with Forza. There are a lot of new people interested in Forza now that this championship was announced, is this really the community we want to show off?

Also to all those who have been trying to address or raise awareness to cutting in the past I’m disappointed you dropped your hard fought opinion JUST because of the $$$ implications. What was the point in even bringing it up if you just do it yourself?

As title says can we cut this corner or not? as rules on esl say other wise?>…

I mean it’s not 100% confirmed ok, but from some guys who are close with t10 say that nothing will be changed as of right now. So I guess… it’s ok.

If you only care about getting into the T-128 cut away SlidewaysRUSH. If you try to uphold integrity and race how it was intended then no.

Im so confuse over this company they get some people to stand in for them acting as turn 10 to help make lobbys clean etc etc and there up there in the top 128 with a dirty lap?(cutting corners)! This game is really going to lose a lot people over this stupidity! God help them when assetto corsa arrives on console.

I knew this’d happen the second I saw Monza as the track… ever get that feeling of deja vu?

I refer to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series a while back where there was a similar uproar to people exploiting track limits - those against it and those that pushed the car to the very limits whilst keeping the lap clean. Though given the scope of this competition and what’s at stake, I’m hardly surprised we’re back here again.

Personally, I’m a little miffed at the cutting. Like a number have mentioned, there’s no way in a normal real-world race scenario that it would pass without scrutiny. Two wheels over the white line and all that jazz. That being said, there have been circumstances where when given the opportunity, drivers will absolutely run as wide or cut a corner as much as possible to gain extra time and speed.

The latter scenario is what’s happening here - has been for quite some time - and unless we get an official word from T10 and/or ESL stating otherwise, it’s just going to stay that way. It takes a level of skill in its own right to be able to push the car to the very limits of what’s been defined as the track boundary in-game. Like some of the top guys have said, even if cutting was somehow mitigated they’d still be rocking the top of the leaderboards. They’re not up there solely because they cut the track, they are up there because they have got the skill and speed to warrant it.

Pretty much sums it all up for me. In real world motorsport and virtual motorsport every racer will try and get the biggest advantage that they can by bordering right on the limit of what’s allowed - so if corner cutting with 4 wheels off the track isn’t penalized by T10, then it’s fair enough for anyone to do it (and even though corner cutting will definitely make me faster, I’m unlikely to crack the top 128 anyway).

What doesn’t help is when it gets personal, or the top racers get defensive and come across badly because of it…

And as someone said earlier, it must be slightly embarrassing for T10/Ford that the replays being shared online show the amount of liberties you can take with the Monza track, but they picked it, so can’t be too concerned - the issues with corner cutting/online lobbies etc have been there since release (and people have been trying to solve them since racing games first appeared with varying success)…

I don’t care that the game says cutting these corners is not a dirty lap, “Race Etiquette” says it’s corner cutting, and therefore cheating and should be disqualified. End of story.
