Forza tune app any good?

hi just seen the forza tune app for forza 5 in itunes and was wandering if it was any good im mainly interested in the gearing set up side for race transmissions. i used the forza calculator for forza 4 for gearing and it worked quite well. as anyone used this app yet?

Works well for gearing. Then, adjust FD to top speed/track.

Does anyone know the maths ,i do’nt want to buy an i phone for my gears lol.

It’s on Android as well.

Thanks but i do’nt use smart phones.I hope theres more interesting apps like this one come out for the xbox 1.

You could be waiting for a long time for XB1 release.

There are Excel versions available.

And you guys do realize setting up gears can be done in about 3 minutes of testing with just common sense?

There are a couple of YouTube videos by Guns, Cars, & Digits (Forza 5 tuning) that will walk you through the math. There are also a couple of docs you can google.

Thanks will check that out.

teared app out and seems to work ok with gearing just have to lower final drive a bit more to suit myself, everything else on the app seems to make cars to stiff for my liking but at least the gear ratios are ok, its a bit vague tho getting peak torque of the power curves in the game menu not as good as forza 4 for getting redline info etc

i wasnt to sure about paying for this app as usually there is an excel spreadsheet somewhere for free

any way i paid my dues and downloaded the app and so far it seems good

i was halfway through a series in single player using the mclaren P1 which i had tuned my self

setting the car up as per the app i was not so sure of the numbers it was spitting out but carried on

the difference was awesome it gripped really well and quicker through the gears

i then tried it on my next series which was classic hyper cars ( i think) and tuned the f40 ferrari the car just keeps on gripping

i am due to start the d c b class championships races (bottom row on the single player screen) and will post back

if any one is not convinced and is reluctant to buy the app it is well worth the few quid it costs

After using app, what you want to do next is fix camber & tire pressure. Now, ONR RoadRunner tire pressure formula works & is dead on. His formula is real easy with a scienctific calcuator/app.

Note Tire
When finding Front-Tyre Pressure use Rear Weight-Distribution
When finding Rear-Tyre Pressure use Front Weight-Distribution

Tyre pressure equation (Psi) = (WD %( LBS)) * (9.8 / (USR – LSR)) + 14.7

Here’s why. Tire pressure is crucial for having the correct center tire temp. When adjusting your negative camber setting, you will notice your center tire temp is already dead on with either inside or outer temp. If you choose not to use his formula try this to achive it, however why waste time when formula works, lol.

Center is low by more than 5 degrees of the highest reading, Tire pressure is too low. Increase 1 to 2 psig per 5 degrees difference.

Center is high by more than 5 degrees of the lowest reading, Tire pressure is too high. Decrease 1 to 2 psig per 5 degrees difference.

That’s why I know his formula works, center temp is dead on already.

Now for alignment. The app doesn’t give correct setting for camber. The negative camber settings seem a little excessive and don’t seem to change depending on input. This can quickly be verified by taking a few laps around a track and reviewing the tire temperatures. If the inside of the tires are colder than the outside, increase negative camber, if the inside is hotter, decrease negative camber.

That’s it and you have dialed in your alignment. The Toe & Caster the app gives you are fine. I personally use the the following from the app. Alignment (of course I tweak camber), anti roll bars (dead on), springs (dead on), & damping (dead on). I do my own settings for tire pressure (formula mentioned above), differential & brakes.

The gear calculator on the app works fantastic too! Just not when peak torque is within 1700 rpm of redline. Otherwise it’s great. Your tunes will no long tach out in final gear on a long straights and do that accelerator pinging (race transmission use).

For FWD cars I put aero on front only. On RWD I put aero on rear only. I always put the widest tires on a car, front & rear. I always put the biggest rim size on my cars I tune. Thinner sidewalls flex way less when going through turns hard.

That’s everything I do to a tune I build. I get fantasic results.

Race on!!!

i’ll have a look at that when i fire forza up tomorrow (titanfall night tonight )

thank you

In my above post, I just told you how to perfectly tune a car. All you got to do is figure the parts you use. Grip or speed. Or medium tune. Always use race parts for chassis & Differential.
