Had a quick look last night and in 150th spot, there is a Mercedes benz (300sl I think it was) and in 200th spot was a Honda, so either manufacturer could maybe get people up the LB.
Also I was looking at tracks where we could maybe improve, I didn’t look long but I could’t see many of our times in the few CC tracks I looked at in A class (or should I say not very high times)
Always happy to help if I can, I’ll keep looking whle I play.
The first two CC tracks I looked at were: Costera Estadio
Both A class and i’m pretty sure you didn’t have a time on one of them, if not both.
I think there were a few sprint races we could possibly improve on too (with the right car / class)
like Aerodrome sprint or Panoramica, but as I said I’ll have a better look (probably tomorrow as football (soccer) is on tonight).
How about that track with C class, 3-wheels? It gives the 2 Peels, Morgan, the Super Robin ( I forget it’s actual name) and if we bend the rules a little, the BMW Isetta. I don’t think we’ll be wringing out any top times with these cars but it would be different.
Thinking back on the game when it was new, there was a D challenge at Chihuahua, it might have been stock 60’s Mini’s. I recall it was a difficult race to beat the drivatars and might be a challenge still.
I haven’t been quick enough to get screenshot of the lap timer but the math says I’ve got a 3:33.027. I’ve taken 8s out of the Trident from my first run with it.
Nicely done Chevy on the last challenges, gave it a few tries in the B class but couldn’t catch my previous standing time (about 3 second off) but had fun trying.
Looking forward to these next couple, hopefully i’ll have a bit more time available.
It will go up to A but it’ll never turn. Trident Drag Races? I was going to make the challenge all 3 wheelers but the Peel is so very tricky. Put that back wheel in a gutter and you’re gone. Touch a guard rail or telephone pole, almost a complete stop. I shared my tune, as you guys use M, it will work with less gears than I have (9 spd) including the drift 4 spd. I went with 9 so I could mash the throttle. With 4 you have to have a lighter foot for which I lack discipline. The setting that really made it work was for the brakes. With this setting you can slow it down without losing control and on the tighter sweepers, a quick stab at the brakes will consistently rotate it about 30 degrees without flipping.
Guess I should of read the brief better, I thought it was a 3 wheeler challenge so as you had a Reliant time up, I gave that a go against your ghost seeing as it was same car.
It was a messy run but a good refresher for the course.
Forgot to do the screenshot so “recorded what happened” but the time was 3.10.4 if you don’t want to watch.
It’s all good. I used the Reliant as a goof and put up a decent time with it, it gave me the idea of a 3 wheeler challenge. I couldn’t get the Morgan to work then tried, laughed and got obsessed with the Trident. (why I shared some tuning input, I put a lot of time into the goofy little thing). As you can put outriggers on the Reliant (don’t do this, you’re not Jeremy Clarkson) and the Isetta technically has 4 wheels, it narrows the 3 wheel choices down so it is the Trident “Dare to be Stupid” Challenge.
Costera Cross Country: I’ve got the Caddy Limo to within .055 of CRW’s time. I don’t think there’s anything left in it. I’m going to let that stand for the challenge as a monument to silliness.
Also Costera Cross Country: There’s no caution flags but every lap that 1 lamppost is fixed. I keep imagining some poor dude running out to replace it while dodging out of control off roaders.
Yeah I tried the Morgan too but couldn’t get much out if it, hence I tried the Reliant.
So I had two runs with the Trident (did’t bother with a screenshot as I can do better with it) but my time was 3.14.628 clean, albeit with a few slides around corners.
1st run was with a 6 speed box - 2nd with a 4 speed. Both were 3.14’s but the 6 speed felt slightly more controllable when slowing down but I’ve not really played with the gearing yet.
Re Costera:
I’ve only done a few standing start laps atm, so I’ll try and get some proper laps in today hopefully.
I’m leaving my Peel time; I don’t think I’ll improve on it. Congratulations, I had a great time. I only tested one Peel version (6-speed gearbox) and the classic tires, and I couldn’t have done better . Congratulations on your great times with this bullet
I’d definitely fallen out of the habit of this type of competition, which was quite a challenge. I built several cars and couldn’t distinguish them (utilize their potential). I often had to take something for high blood pressure when I landed on a bump during my first jump between blocks (yellow flag, yellow flag). Later, I decided to build a more powerful car to get over the bump, but I couldn’t maintain my line at the next flags and kept driving towards the water (I know, I know, the problems of a newbie starting out ).
