Hi! I need some explanation on some Rivals mechanics.
Last month, i was trying to beat my time on The Titan Rivals (actually in #44 in S2 Class), but i was racing in the Dry Season, because it’s the best season to race. Unfortunately, i lost the chance to do it because the season changed to Rain Season (the worst one), so i waited 3 weeks to try beat my time again. Now i’m in the Dry Season, but The Titan Rivals still on the Rain Season, even if the normal race it’s already on the Dry Season.
Can someone explain this to me?
That’s the last Rivals i want to beat my time, but it’s almost impossible in the Rain Season.
I feel like there is some glitch, but I’m not sure tho
Certain CC tracks benefitted from the previous series, the Titan and specifically the El Descenso section at the start had 2 bits of water missing the whole time, making it much easier to be faster on El Descenso CC individually and giving you a good platform to go from for the rest of Titan.
Playa Azul Circuit/Goliath also didn’t have it’s pool of water on the inside of the first corner though that was a rather minor benefit.
Festival CC is also affected by seasons in general, haven’t fully worked it out yet but this is what it looked like a few days ago…
It was full of these through the middle section of the course when it’s usually clear, those bushes have a bit of weight to them so your speed is constantly taking a hit from them, no chance of improving there at the moment if you already had a decent time.
It’s not as distinct as FH4’s seasons but there are still some occasional places affected by the mechanic in this game.
That’s exactly my point.
In the Dry Season, I don’t have to go through watery sections, and other sections seem to have better grip this season than in the others.
Now I just want to know when the Dry Season will be active in Rivals mode, because I’ll hardly be able to beat my previous time having to face the watery sections with less grip.
I don’t know, last series was the first time myself and the people I speak to became aware of it on Titan/Descenso, and 2 of those people do a lot more CC Rivals than I do.
You’ll have to just keep checking it each week.
I was checking everyday Thursday, that’s why i’m confused how the Rivals mode still in the Rain Season.
But thanks for your attention
I have been away for awhile, but I never noticed the seasons to have an affect on rivals; I do dirt and xc almost exclusively. Is this a recent change?
I think it may be, I’m sure word would have spread around long before now if certain tracks were always so drastically affected by the season you drive them in.
I never saw it mentioned in the Rivals thread on here although we didn’t do a lot of CC there either.
Nope.
Most races are affected only minimally by climate change, but CC (Cross Country) races are affected very abruptly, as in some sections there may or may not be rivers/streams depending on the season, and this greatly affects the race time.
Interesting. This was not the case in FH4, was it? A change for this game?
In FH4, the changes are even bigger and in all modes.
Here, they change basically on CC races.
The first time I went through all the CC point to point rivals was 3 or 4 months ago and it had to have started before then. I could tell by ghosts I was racing.
The ones with watered dried up are visually the most noticeable … you either see the water or you dont … but just from racing other ghosts, the difference in Festival CC is the most noticeable in my opinion because the amount the vegetation slows you down. Like TheGillesMuller pictured, sometimes the vegetation is over 6 feet tall and sometimes its under 1 foot tall, and times are more drastically effected than when going through water on El Descenso.
On El Descenso, theres pros and cons to the different seasons, at least for some classes. I noticed that if you go through the water just right, you dont lose much time at all … but most paths are dramatic. But when theres no water, there is snow up at the top which makes the top section a lot slower. Ive been within 0.1 seconds of my D class time with the water there and without. I havent done a perfect run there so I dont know which season is actually faster. The difference on Festival CC is multiple full seconds because that tall mess is too thick to avoid.
Im of the opinion that Rivals should always be the same challenge, but thats definitely not what we got.
I’ve only been back playing two weeks, and I did notice somewhere it seemed to be more vegetation than I recalled. I just assumed it was because it’s been so long and I’d just forgotten. And the seasonal changes here, to me, seem minimal.
I am tripped out about that was the case in FH4. I do not remember rivals affected by seasons at all. I feel like I would have noticed snow in XC.
I agree that it should all be the same metric and standard that everyone races every time.
Exactly.
Right now I’m watching the game waiting for the Rivals mode season to change to the Dry Season.
