Pretty much as the title states, launching the game and once Forza apex reaches the blue ford gt screen the game crashes to desktop. I have played the game before on my machine when it released on the 5th, the day after the problem started and not sure why. Have tried clearing the Windows store cache and reducing my monitors refresh rate to 60Hz from 120hz. If anyone cloud help it will be greatly appreciated.
I never got to play it :(. Still stuck at the loading screen.
Yeah, it’s dead Jim. Ran fine (well, serious input lag with 360 wirelesss controller) for 2 days. Since yesterday it crashes at the same stage.
AMD 6-core, 16GB RAM, GTX970, Win and Game on SSD.
OK, I’ve managed to get it working but not sure if it will work for everyone. I had to go through some folders on the C drive and delete a couple of files, I’ll try to make this as simple as possible:
-
Go to your start menu and go into folder explorer options, then go to the view tab and select show hidden files.
-
Go into your C drive and navigate to this folder > C:\Users"Your account name"\AppData\Local\Packages.
-
Find the folder called “Microsoft.ApexPG_8wekyb3d8bbwe”. Go into that folder (Before going into that folder, create a backup of the folder and save it onto the desktop for example)
-
This next part I cant 100% remember how I did it but I went into either:
5 “Microsoft.ApexPG_1.0.6.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe” folder within the “Microsoft.ApexPG_8wekyb3d8bbwe” folder and deleted the DAT file called "ActivationStore.DAT
- OR the other DAT file I deleted was in the LocalState folder within the “Microsoft.ApexPG_8wekyb3d8bbwe”.
This deleted my progress that I made throughout the game and my settings but it has not done it again for the past 2 days (touch wood).
Really hope this helps guys.
Thanks for this feedback, hopefully it’ll be helpful to others.
This made the game crash instantly after start so I had to put it back. Deleting the .log files there didn’t seem to matter one way or the other.
I’m dealing with a similar issue and hoping that it’s settings/state. http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postsm514496_Frozen-at--greatest-care-in-the-world--after.aspx#post_514496
Oooh, by the name of the file you could be right. The evening before it started crashing I was prompted to connect to Forza Hub and get a car. This all worked fine during that session but the next day it started to crash at loading screen. I’ll have a look.
Thanks,
Stephan
I can confirm that deleting the dat file in LocalState worked for me.
Tried this because I’m also stuck crashing at the Ford GT screen with the spinning circle in the lower right. But I don’t even have a DAT file in the localstate folder because I’ve never actually gotten past that point. I’m assuming no save was ever created. So I don’t think it is exclusively a corrupted save issue.
First time I launched it, it stopped and told me my graphics drivers were out of date. So I updated those to latest: nvidia 368.39. Second time it signed me into my gamertag, then crashed on the loading screen. I’ve never even gotten to a “press A to start” type message.
I do have a triple-monitor nvidia surround set up, but the game seemed to be running normally on the center/primary monitor while it shows the Turn 10 splash screen.

i have the same problem, and i have solved it by replacing nvidia driver from newest (368.39) to previous 368.22
So try to rollback nvidia driver first
I’ve had the same phenomenon since the launch of the game.
It got stuck each time at that loading screen.
However I solved it with a simple trick. Since the past few days I was getting low-memory messages when playing NFS.
I did have that same message appear with The Division once and in the early days as well on Forza Apex.
So I was wondering how can this happen as I got 8GB of ram and no additional sofware running in the background.
Because this is a gaming system only.
Well to my surprise the paging file from windows was set to 0.
Now I’ve raised this and I could launch Forza Apex and play it without any problems.
So you could check that as well.
