Forza 6 splitscreen (local co-op) keeps disconnecting second player

Hi,

I’ve been trying to play split-screen with my other half on Forza 6 but have only managed to successfully play one race so far. I sign in on my profile, have both controllers active (with new batteries) and start Forza 6. Getting to split-screen works fine, and it will usually ask for Player 2 to join. Most times, pressing the three-line button on his controller does nothing. Sometimes it does connect, but only long enough for us to set up a race. When we go to start the race, a message comes up saying '[Account name]‘s controller has been disconnected. Please reconnect the controller’. His controller is still turned on and works when selecting different tracks, game options, back to Home etc. We both have separate accounts, but a shared Gold subscription. Forza 6 is fully downloaded on both accounts (e.g. not just at ‘Ready to Start’).

So far I have tried the following:

  • Signing in on just my profile, with him signed out (three line button will not work to allow him to join)

  • Quitting Forza 6 completely, starting it again on my profile. Play a single player game and try to go to split-screen afterwards (same problem as before)

-Both of us signed in on Xbox, with my profile loaded. Same issue as before.

-Hard resetting the XBox One. This worked initially and we were able to set up a game, but as soon as we went to start it the ‘controller disconnected’ message came up again.

-Signing in on his profile, starting his Forza 6 and trying to add me as Player 2. Same problem.

-Turning both controllers off. Batteries out, controllers swapped and turned on again. Xbox turned off and on again, and controllers re-synced. Same as before.

-Both of us signed in. Restarted Forza. Attempt to set up a split-screen race with only one controller turned on. Turn on the second controller and try and connect. Three line button does nothing, even though Player 2 can move between menus as before.

I’ve looked throughout the community pages for help but so far can only find Multiplayer issues. The XBox game help page suggested resetting the controllers, which we’ve tried but without luck.

I’m aware that it’s the first week and as with any game there are bugs to iron out, but I was really looking forward to racing against/screaming abuse at my bf. The game is brilliant otherwise. Any ideas on how to solve this?
