Forza 6 rivals mode not like what I've seen on YouTube

I’ve been watching YouTube videos of people playing Forza 6, hoping to learn how to stay between the ditches. I’m watching video of a guy in rivals mode. His rival appears as a ghost that he chases around. At the beginning of each lap, the ghost resets and starts again just as the human driver crosses the line. That’s how it works in the video. But when I try it myself, the ghost is there only for the first lap, then it disappears, and never comes back. What am I doing wrong?

Also, just for fun, I tried to drive against myself as a rival. In this case, the ghost got a running start, left me in the dust, disappeared around a corner, and again, never reappeared. Wondering what I’m doing wrong with that too.

I’ve noticed thus happens once you beat the rival. It will tell you the next time to beat, but the original ghost you’ were chasing will disappear. I always took this as how it’s supposed to work. You can always exit the session and choose the same player as your rival.

It might be a glitch, too, as I’ve seen things like the braking line disappear for no reason.

You nailed it. When I don’t beat the time, the ghost sticks around. Thanks much!

Indeed, if you beat a rival his ghost disappear. Like said before, you will see the next rival to beat on the top of your screen but you won’t see his ghost. You have to quit the race and restart a session if you want to see the next “ghost”.

Unless you dont beat it
Then you will have it at the start of the next lap

If you go to free play and set it to 0 opponents and 50 laps, it will put a ghost of your best lap in the session. So every lap you will have your own ghost to race against and it will still show you who your next rival is as you improve your times and it will still post the time to the leaderboards if it in fact your best time. Its not a perfect set up, but its a useful workaround if you just want to race around a track and race a ghost car lap after lap.

Thanks HEAPS for this info mate, really do appreciate it greatly, as I’ve been wondering how I could do this.

So now I can try beating my own Ghosts and check my own racing lines. Something I’ve been wanting to do for ages…

Most appreciated mate…

That’s a pretty cool way of doing it. That still posts your best time on the leaderboards for that track and class?

Yes, unless its a vip or other type of special rivals event that have their own leaderboards.

Hey, I’ve tried this, but I’m not seeing a ghost. You do mean zero drivatars, right? In the HUD options, I tried both “ghost” settings as “on” and “rivals mode”, but no luck. Any thoughts?

Free play, zero drivatars. There wont be a ghost on your first lap, the ghost is created within the session, its not a ghost of your best lap ever on that track, just in the session. Just set ghost to on. If it still doesnt work all i could say is hard reset your xbox by unplugging it from the wall, then start forza up fresh.

I was just going to suggest that and noticed your post. To he guy above, doing that helps get rid of any bugs or anomalies within the session, it’s much like doing a full reboot on your computer. Not just putting it to sleep or trying to open a new page etc.

Most computers (operating systems) generally get rid of current session based cookies that affect the system telling it to repeat things adnusium.

The Xbox Ones Hard Reset is designed to do basically the same. Getting rid of … Let’s call them cookies… From the system that are making it repeat certain tasks.

Doing the hard reset could reset it and allow the ghosts to work as 2Fass suggested. Please let us all know how it goes…

You might need to adjust your setting with ghosts for that to happen

Can you elaborate about that mate??

Be specific so I can work it out properly please.

Thanks…

In the hud settings theres a ghost on/off option, if you never touched it, it should already be on

In Rivals I go to the class and track I want and press Y to bring up the Leaderboard. Once thats up you can select a player and either view his replay or set them as your rival instead of the next guy on the list.

I do it so I have someone further in front running good lines and we aren’t trying to occupy the same space on the track at the same time. Especially handy if your next rival has dark tint windows you can’t see the line through. You still get the win if you beat other players on the list even if you dont beat the chosen rival. Also watching their replay with telemetry on is handy as you can see their gear changes and braking points too.
