Anybody Has Knowledge On How To Tune A Race Transmission With Math And Numbers Instead Of Letters I Think I Know How To Tune The Tires With Caster, The Springs With Downforce And Ride Height, The Differential, For Me I Always Make The Rebound 13.0 13.0 And The Bump Stiffness 1.0 1.0 To Start Off With, The Break Balance And Break Pressure Are Prefer Per Player For The Track And Driver Style, I Have Problems Doing The Camber And Toe I Usually Do That By Feeling Of The Car And Track, The Race Transmission I Don’t Know How To Do It.
I am trying to get more info on camber also.
What I have been doing is going to the Mojave test track and finding a spot where I can do a large circle in 3rd or 4th gear. I’ll go around and around and around - all the time I watch the heat telemetry (for the tires on the outside of the turn) and see how the insides of the tires heat up compared to the outsides. I THINK you want to have even heat distribution across the tire because that means the tire is flat on the road during a turn. Hopefully my logic is good here…
This seems to work pretty well for getting my basic camber setting, but I don’t know how to fine tune it, or how caster effects it.
I hope that helps you a little bit.
I just put up a guide the other day that explains what you should know about the stuff you’re having issues with, so I’d advise checking it out if you have the time. But yes, you want tire temperatures fairly even across the tire, usually within 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit. The best way to check that is with telemetry as you’re on a straight. The temps will fluctuate in the corner too much to get an accurate reading. So you have to keep an eye on those temperatures when working with most with your springs, camber, and tire pressures. Caster isn’t a wear angle with tires, it’s just an angle that helps direct the tires when turning so you can have better control when going into a turn that can also give you more straight line speed if set properly. As for the transmission, it can be tricky, but that’ll vary from track to track in most cases. You’ll want to set it up for what gears you use most. Typically 1st and 2nd are going to want to be tuned for acceleration out of corners, but the rest are up to you in how much acceleration you want versus speed. Just remember, just because you have a 6th gear, doesn’t mean that have to always use it. Once again, check out my guide, there’s a lot more information there on this stuff that I put up for guys like you, trying to figure out what things do and what they are.
