It’s actually just over five miles, but the title refers to cars that appear “like forty miles of bad road” (i.e., ugly)
You are not racing against my time, but against a mark which I’m sure is attainable. The car you drive will have a “distressed” livery. Anything goes, from a veteran of current GT wars to a full-on “beater” look. The course is the diabolical Fujimi New Downhill. I posted a replay of my current attempt (SF), but it’s just not a real challenge to beat the best I can do today. I’m setting a target of FIVE MINUTES, which I know is possible, because a year ago when I was driving much better, I set a [see leaderboard] time of well under that. Be a sport and set up your run with full damage on, and race against a fairly fast AI competitor to spur you on. Competition will be open through the second week of July.
Everyone who comes in at under 5:00 and furnishes a replay will get a Ferrari 250GTO for participating. The fastest time among all takers will win my BMW E30 M3, used in April 2015 for my PB run.
Voldemortt will be receiving the BMW Bavaria Edition for fastest run.
I should have noted it’s an S class race. My replay shows an S class Ford GT careening down the mountain.
If you don’t feel like creating a “beat-up” car, send yours too me for “weathering” (offer good for one car per person). An alternative to that would be scraping off some paint early in the race. AS long as it arrives at the bottom looking “distressed” I call it legal =3))
voldemortt: your car has been returned, looking sufficiently… errm, “enhanced”
I posted a dirty 4:37:433 ( replay named 40 miles on my SF ) . If they dont i will run again . It was fun , could have gon a few secs quicker but for scraping a few barriers
Since I didn’t specify clean laps, I can’t change the rules after two entries have been posted. You will both get Ferraris.
However: in the competition for my BMW Bavaria Edition, standard scoring will apply. That is, clean laps rank ahead of dirty laps; that’s only common sense.
I will run it again sometime , i dirtied the lap hitting walls , not by the other cars hitting me .May not be as fast but a few seconds wont be a big loss .
Ran it again this morning , seems having too many AI cars is causing me to get a dirty lap by the AI slipstreaming behind me on the main straight . Will run again with just the one AI car this time .
Eventually managed a clean lap . I ran a 4:35:700 , replay on my SF named 40 miles . I t was quite a challenge to go quickly and clean too , hit the wall once or twice but it stayed clean : )
