The Super touring Mondeos that raced in the BTCC from 1993-2000, all used the naturally aspirated Mazda KL V6 engine, from Mazda MX6 / Ford Probe MK2, destroked to 2 liters to meet super touring car rules, it had to be naturally aspirated to meet the rules aswell.
The power was around 300 hp and the revlimit of 8500 rpm, again to meet regulations.
It was always the sounding car in BTCC from 1993-2000.
The Mazda engine was chosen in favour of the road going Mondeo Duratec engine, since it was lighter and slightly smaller in overall size.
