Now that’s what I’m talking about, good work Turn10!!! Thanks for compiling a half decent bug list and actually fixing them.Keep it up and keep the content rolling in and players will come back. For those of us who had faith,we are finally seeing some benefits from hanging around since launch.I havn’t had any major issues since after the first patch,I’ve seen nothing but improvenment on my end. Please fix the Vip Race Suits not saving bug too… frikin’ annoying
Bathurst would be easier since Fujimi has a lot of trackside detail (like the Norschileife), and redoing that would take too long. I’m putting my money on Sebring, then Long Beach, brands hatch has to be around the corner as well.
Am I the only one who doesnt care, one way or the other, about the Nord?
Im not a fan of it,I only played it in GT7 when I had to,apart from that its not for me.If people are chuffed about this track thats a good thing so more updates like this.
Im not sure what to make of the car pg update/comments from T10,does this mean its changing in update 5 or they are tinkering with it?
Im not a fan I appreciate the track difficulty and the skill to go round it flat out. But in game I just find it like a long rally stage, and with dodgy ai. Hmmm
I have many more favourite tracks in front of this, including many UK tracks.
Yes I’m the same I just don’t understand why
No you’re not the only one I feel the same.
I’d love Donnington in the track list.
I love racing on the Nordschleife, or hotlapping even more! That’s what tons of people do (used to?; not sure if they still allow “regular people” onto the track) to see what times they can do with their cars.
Being a Forza regular from FM1, I still know every turn even though it’s been years since I drove it in Forza. I know I’ll spend hours hotlapping in every class once the track drops! Setting fast, clean laps there is the true test of patience, risk taking, and balanced tuning!
Nordschleife at midnight with heavy rain while driving a prototype car is a nightmare! And if only you activate mechanical damage + turn off rewind and disable HUD= (FOR ME AT LEAST…)
Then don’t drive under those conditions. Pick your favourite car, time of day, weather, and have fun!
I will, but thought some challenge could be interesting, especially at the longest and most dangerous track on earth…
Whatever floats your boat! That’s part of the fun in videogames.
Happy Winter-een-mas, all you gamers out there!
I really can’t wait for February’s livestream ( they said February will be about forza motorsport)
Perhaps I missed it - but…
There was no mention of fixing the issue of being able to save controller settings of a non-standard wheel/controller setup.
… or has this been fixed in another fix which I’ve missed???
Complete rubbish…
Nords isn’t the easiest track to pass on but it’s nowhere near as bad as Monaco, where most overtakes are in the pits or due to a crash…
Had dozens of races there in AMS2 (well over 12,000 miles in total) and its easy to pass people there…
…It’s been that kind of a day, so I’ll be that guy.
I’m not impressed, for several reasons. We’ll get to the whole Surprise Nordschleife’ing in just a moment, because I had thoughts about that when I first heard it.
First, though, let’s start from the top of the Patch Notes preview, where it’s depressingly evident that Turn 10 is going to ride the CarPG bomb, much like Slim Pickens did, all the way to point of impact. Previous Forza Motorsport games already gave players the freedom to equip the parts they needed regardless of car level. They are going to waste so much time trying to make this stupid system work when what they need to do is cut the tumor out with extreme prejudice and go back to the completely credit-based economy that every other entry in the series has run on since inception. So, only making it that far into the article before having a San Andreas vintage “Here We Go Again” moment was nice. Kudos for that, I suppose.
Second, and perhaps more important in the context of the incoming Nordschleife, there was nothing said at all about going through and retuning every single car in this game so that they behave with more authenticity and realism than they currently do. The meta (if you will) of this game is currently to suffer with a car until you unlock not just the tires and other handling components, but also the necessary Car Points needed to be able to equip them, and then burn lots of time tuning said components until you can get the car to finally perform at an acceptable level or at least to what you would expect the stock version of the car to perform at. This is a horrible meta, especially if you like driving stock cars or you have real world knowledge of how the car should drive. It kills immersion having to slap on what would be tens of thousands of dollars of parts and tinker with them just so my in-game car drives similarly to the bone-stock real-life example sitting in my driveway. Definitively more so than any other entry in this series, driving stock cars is a complete nightmare, and I think it does one of the debatably few bright spots in this game a disservice having it concealed behind completely horrible stock setups. Retune the cars, and get rid of the understeer.
Then there’s the track itself. It’s increasingly harder to get excited for these tracks as it becomes increasingly evident that the reasons for their exclusions are very false. Within a day of either Daytona being released or the Valkyrie AMR Pro being released (speaking of the Valkyrie, way to go not fixing that car at all, Turn 10), a video appeared on Reddit of said car running down Daytona’s backstretch visibly porpoising. Here’s a quote from a pre-release article on The Drive:
That increased fidelity uncovered deficiencies in the way the game replicated suspension behavior, so the team had to sort that out next. In the process, it found that the new physics were causing cars to collide with the old track geometry in strange yet invisible ways, in a manner Esaki likened to porpoising in Formula 1. And just like that, all the environments in the game suddenly had to be rebuilt, too.
Someone here’s full of it. Given that the pit road exit is still blocked off at Daytona (and now IMSA Radio is getting in on the fun of dragging Turn 10 for it) I know who I’m inclined to think is telling falsehoods.
When the announcement was made during that laughably short segment on the Forza Monthly, my first thought was “Y’all just got told to make the bleeding stop by any means necessary.” I stand by that, because I think that this track - just like Daytona - wasn’t ever really re-scanned. It was just given a fresh coat of ray-traced paint. Personally, I would have taken whatever compelled Turn 10 to “finish” the Nordschleife as a sign, and put that same effort towards having more than one track ready to drop from now until development ends on this project. But that’s just me and what would be my Boy Scout-like desire to please what few players remain and to collect and attempt to repair the torn and tattered remains of my company’s reputation.
If…yeah. If Turn 10 somehow survives this and is ever given another chance to deliver another Forza Motorsport, I seriously hope that they buck the trend that they’ve established for themselves since 2017 and actually learn from this. Because the next failure will destroy them. That, I am certain of.
Anyway, that’s all I got for now. We’ll see what Update 6 provides. But this still ain’t it.
It’s a very rewarding track and it was endless fun in rivals and Track Day Meetup lobbies in FM7, especially if you find people who know the track and have similar cars to yours. You could just race for unlimited amount of time in different cars and learn from each other or just enjoy some chill cars. That’s the lobby where I met most of my friends from Forza. It’s also a great place for tuning your car since the ring challenges it in every possible way.
I really hope they will bring back the Track Day Meetup lobby and possibly a permament Nordschleife one🥺 (let me dream)
Honestly can’t wait for it. Fujimi Kaido when?
Was thinking the same thing before I hit reply lol. I’ve seen Verstappen make passes on the nordshleife in a sim league race which let me know it could be done. It’s not as bad as Monaco, but it it can be a disaster because the course is so narrow. The ring is in the time attack category for me along with Monaco, because it’s such a difficult narrow track.
I’d say not having it right now off the bat is a good thing no matter the reason. It takes a lot of skill to race there.
Yeah, I’m not impressed either with what they’re finally delivering, considering it’s been months since retail launch…
…but I was pleasantly surprised at the change in how they communicated it in the “Update 5 Game Fixes Preview” blog post.
It doesn’t smell like this one was spat out of a chatbot.
It seems to try to avoid what made their “Message to the Motorsport Community” fall so flat.
It’s more specific, relevant, & immediate instead of their typical vague detachment.
It seems less defensive, less like they’re patting themselves on the back, and less like players should bow down in humble gratitude for the privilege of being addressed by royalty.
It also doesn’t include any of their usual cringe canned phrases like “we appreciate your patience,” “we value community feedback,” “in the coming months,” “stay tuned,” etc.
“…While this update is in active development, we wanted to share an earlier-than-usual look at some of the changes we’re targeting for this release…”
That’s the kind of thing we’ve been asking for.
That’s the kind of thing done by other game companies whose passion & respect for their community show a lot more.
I got the vibe from this blog post that somebody there finally read the room.
Maybe it was just a fluke.
Maybe the usual blog writer was out-of-the-office that day.
Maybe they’ll go back to business-as-usual after this update.
Maybe some of these fixes won’t make it into this update.
Maybe this update will bring even more bugs/issues/problems.
Maybe the Nordschleife will have pit exits that dump drivers directly into The Shadow Realm.
I just prefer the substance, specificity, timeliness, & manner of this particular update blog over their usual awkward & tone-deaf style of “cOmMuNiCaTiOn.”
Id say the 2 biggest positives from this announcement is the sense of urgency they seem to have now and them fixing the sign at spa.
Doesn’t seem like the devs have any plans to fix the car models. Guess we’re just stuck with it.
