FM is in the Year 2025 still a Construction Site

After a few months off, I thought I’d take a look at Forza again. Well… apparently the dev’s still haven’t looked at the game or don’t play the game themselves or the quality control is still closed.

The AI drivers are still not able to react to the player or the AI does not manage to behave according to the situation.

You are pushed off the track, bumped and pushed and the AI still stubbornly drives along its predetermined route. So there is no racing feeling when you know that the AI is virtually ignoring you.

For example, if you overtake on the inside of a bend and the AI drives on the outside, it simply pulls in even though you are half a car length ahead. The AI behaves as if the player doesn’t exist.

Racing simulations 15 years ago already managed that…

The same goes for the paint jobs. As before, the game mirrors the decals slightly offset on the opposite side so that you have to readjust every single sticker by hand.

The game is fun when you’re not racing against the AI, e.g. rivals or just solo for a few laps. But the career… the races that are titled like that… it’s not really a career mode, racing games did that much better 15 years ago - I repeat myself - sorry - the career is just ridiculous.

It’s always seemed like a proof-of-concept demo, as if every aspect was cobbled together only far enough to hint at potential.

I have more fun lately with Grid legends and my 650 dollar wheel that essentialy collects dust…that was bought to try enjoy this game.

I think they used that term before release, that it was a “platform”, like one of those countless service games that you build on as time goes on.

If done right, these types of games should give you more reasons to get in the more time progresses. With Forza, that hasn’t really happened. There is really no more reason to get in now than there was at release.

The foundation was already shaky. While I think the core gameplay is good, a lot of the surrounding systems at launch were either clunky (like the UI flow in general) or outdated (like the livery editor). It isn’t unsolvable, the problem is it takes a lot of resources to go from e.g. this livery editor to something actually modern.

And it seems that between the content (cars, tracks, races) and the constant work-in-progress on the AI and penalty systems (which is a reasonable expectation as these feed from player data and feedback) there isn’t a lot of resources left for the rest of the game.

They seem to think that trickling in the same content from prior installments is ample reason for players to keep coming back.

I was going to buy a full set up for this game as I’ve always been a fan of Forza but i decided to get the game first and I’m glad i did.
Thankfully its only £90 to be mad about and not the 1k+ i nearly blew!.

a game with so many issues as fm2023 had wont become perfect within a short period of time. they made some progress but in all honesty… update 17 is 3 steps back

They’ve had lots of time.
• It’s been more than a year since this installment’s retail launch.
• This installment was years in the making.
• It’s a 20-year-old series - after working on something for 20 years, it seems like they should be much better at it.

Calling it a “Construction site” kinda got me rolling on the floor. It reminds me of that unfinished Construction site from GTA V. :sweat_smile:

I think from what I’ve seen, this game did quite an irreversible damage. Or maybe some kind of collateral damage that will take a very long time to repair.

Update 16 had 0 performace updates, 0 AI updates, 0 Forza Race Regulation updates
0 PI adjustments for open class. Not a single word on how they plan to implement some kind of blue flag system to multiclass hoppers.

It was just more FOMO content that noone asked for.

The only thing T10 achived with Forza Motorsport was to make sure the Motorsport game series ends with 8. If there is a 9, noone will buy it.

I will definitely not be buying any more Forza titles.

I own all Forza Games from Horizon 1 to 5 “cheater heaven” and Motorsport 1 to 7 and this very special “Penalty - Crash Game, Black Hole Green Grass” simulation FM23.

I agree with this. It’s incomprehensible how the series continues to get worse. It simply needed to evolve from FM4, finely tuning what was already there to something slightly better every game. 20 years. You’d think this was the first one and the older games were the latest games. I can still have fun playing this game because i enjoy just building cars, taking them on track and tuning them to see what they can do. Obviously Forza has no rival in this regard. Everything else i used to enjoy, which was almost entirely racing private lobbies in FM4, died with FM4.

Sure, why not? To be a service game it always has to be in a state of being worked on. I hope it is still under construction. And I hope the team builds something magnificent from what’s currently on offer. Just like what every other service game in the industry is doing.

Customer/acquaintance at my job is potentially ordering a very special car and would be getting it via European delivery, which would very likely include some laps around The Ring.

They asked me for some ideas on how to best familiarize themselves with the track, and I could not in good faith recommend to them to buy an Xbox and Forza to power a basic racing sim setup.

I instead gave them a shopping list of items built around a Playstation and GT7.

Neither system is perfect, but Forza is so insufferably frustrating that I could not endorse it as their introduction to sim racing so they can learn The Ring before they travel to get their car.

…I’d have probably suggested the same thing, but I hope the dealer/manufacturer is wise enough to put them on the GP circuit and not the Nordschleife. The latter has the potential to be lulzy…and expensive.

Customer would be coordinating their own laps on the Ring, not a dealer or manufacturer.

Hence their request to learn the track prior to traveling.

It just saddens me that I cannot recommend to other people that they invest in this game.

Oh. Well.

Tell them whatever he learns, real life is going to throw them curveballs if and when he does it.

FWIW, that’s one brave/ foolish soul. Given the potential for catastrophe, there is no way I would ever drive the Nordschleife in a car which I own, let alone one which I love so much that I’d depart with a hefty sum of money just to make my way to Germany and pick it up.

They are aware that any game they play will not be entirely accurate.

But at least knowing the overall layout and which section and corner they are approaching will still benefit their trip.
