I was racing in an A class Multiplayer on Sebring…
It the usual kind of online race… getting bumped from behind 100 ft from the turns, side-swiping, etc, etc…
Was running a close 2nd with 1 lap to go and got bumped off the track. I voiced “I’ll see you in a minute”, meaning I would be catching up…
… at the end of the long straight before the sweeping u-turn, I get bumped again, at high speed and rammed into the wall…
…The original bumper though I was trying a high speed crash into him and started berating me relentlessly…
… I wasn’t able to make up any ground from that point forward and focused on finishing, which I did, next to last…
… The accosting continued back into the lobby when… all of a sudden… POOF!! He got showed the door… & I didn’t even vote to kick him…
It really felt great to see others in the lobby take action…
Interesting. I’ve had less luck with kicking; usually I think the offender drops on their own. I’ve reported a half dozen cheaters but only the most obvious ones (guys using glitches to cheat). Easiest way for a guy who thinks he’ll get reported is to quit the lobby before others can open his profile: few people even know how to search, fewer still can remember exact spelling of a GT afterwards.
Actually, what had happened is we went to another race, Indy Oval, before he got booted or left. There he basically set out to wreck everyone, which I didn’t understand because he WAS finishing among the leaders in every race so he had fast cars and was a decent racer…
Maybe he just left, maybe he got kicked… either way… the lobby was quiet and everyone raced clean for a few more races…
I don’t remember his exact GT, but I kind of know it… on the off chance I see him again, I’ll block him I guess…
you think that is mostly kids that ram but the other nite i was online racing and did a McNish in the 2011 LeMans and clipped someone going into a corner by a mistake and he spent the rest of the race trying to ram me, so when i when to block and report him it said he been on xbox live for about 6years and some info on his profile made me think he was not a kid, Now i don’t get this if some one hits me when over taking i think ‘grrrrr’ and wait see what happens next. some people just see it as an eye for an eye!
Some people are like this too, unfortunately. One of the few times I was playing online I lost control and couldn’t slow in time for one of the corners on Silverstone and wound up sailing through the grass which turned out to not slow me down too much. I was faster (when not doing that) than the rest of the field but second place spent the rest of the race throwing insults at me and trying to catch me to crash into me until he realized I was taking every corner normally after that and I somehow managed to convince him I really hadn’t intentionally cut the corner.
I had a really good run of races later that day with a good group and we all wound up sticking together for at least 30 minutes. There were occasional bumps and crashes but everyone would apologize or try to give room for people to pass if they knew you were coming.
I always wait to see if someone takes out multiple people before I retaliate. It could just be a friendly mistake.
I think a grea feature to implement would be kicking in the FM4 style, to shed light on the situation but have players who weren’t in the previous race be unable to vote. That way the whole lobby would know what’s going on and the offender would be innocent until proven guilty and only the others in the race could determine if he was in the wrong.
