I saw a topic just like this was made for FH5 so i thought it’ll be appropriate to make one for FH6 too. So.. Drop your predictions about the soundtrack below. Be as broad or as specific as you’d like.
Here’s what i got:
I’ve recently noticed every single block party radio station (since fh3) has featured this artist called Outasight. So i wondered if they’ll have him in Horizon 6, since a lot of his songs are very very similar. Don’t get me wrong, his style of music is pretty cool but the fact that he has sooo many songs of the same type of funky/dance genre and being featured in the game for so long makes me think they might try to squeeze him into Horizon 6 too. Licencing will probably play a role as well.
Also Pulse is going to feature: Empire Of The Sun - Cherry Blossom for obvious reasons
Kind of hard to predict honestly since they usually pick contemporary music all the way up to the release of the game. At a guess, at least half of what will be on the soundtrack probably hasn’t even been released yet.
However, the devs at Playground Games will indeed somehow incorporate brand new radio stations heavily focused on Japanese Pop artists and songs dating from between the late 80’s and mid 2000’s, especially to please Forza fans that are nostalgicists of these times.
If FH6 is to be set in Japan, so it’s extremely vital for Playground Games to bring iconic J-Pop, City Pop, J-Rock, Hip-hop, Techno and Eurobeat songs from anime and tokusatsu soundtracks.
When i looked at FH5’s soundtrack and even H4’s , i’ve seen songs that were around 1-2 years old before they made it to the game. But yes, for the most part i think you’re right in a sense that they’ll probably be looking to get as much recent music as possible because this way they can have those licenses run for as long as possible. (in a game that’s basically built around licensing stuff) Since my understanding is that older music is in generally more difficult to license.
Hopefully they won’t do too much of that and just slap whatever is convenient because it will most definitely hurt the soundtrack. At the same time i do imagine the more corporate side of Xbox wouldn’t have allowed PG this much freedom.
My understanding is also that in a modern game that’s about to release soon, a festival racer btw, you would want to have as much recent music as possible because this is supposed to be a 2026 game after all. And it just has to reflect that. You just can’t have most of your music be taken from like 2010 or prior. It wouldn’t make sense.
This doesn’t mean the game shouldn’t feature any older music. But i sort of understand why they would want to add as much recent music as they can. So it’s not just a licensing issue or them purposefully trying to make the soundtrack worse. Although as i noted earlier, the corporate side of Xbox would probably never allow someone like Rob Da Bank to come in and curate a great soundtrack.
Hate to rain on your parade, but there’s no way they’ll have a radio station with almost 100 songs. Some of the radio stations in Horizon 5 didn’t even crack 20 songs.
I predict to see music from all lf east asia especially south korea and obviously japan because i dont see the devs doing a forza horizon south korea in the future not for the next game whenever thar releases at the very least so why not uses musical tracks from other nations near japan in a japanese based racing game
Racing games are actually where I used to get most of my post 2000 music from. However, I didn’t particularly care for a majority of Horizon 5’s soundtrack, so I had no issue turning that off within the first hour of gameplay.
Yeah I find the radio station format in practice does a poor job at keeping the soundtrack fresh and listenable since you’re limited to listening to a fraction of the soundtrack at a time and having the songs continuously looping during races.
Exactly. If it were up to me, I’d definitely axe the looping, bring back the set song for each campaign race that Horizon 1 had, and have the option for the player to be able create their own custom radio stations made of their favorite songs. Either that, or maybe have a radio station or two with more genre variety.
