FH4 FPS Drop

Hello. After this new update, my game is stuttering and it’s having a big fps drop. It’s really impossible to play.
I have Kaspersky Internet Security, my pc is safe and don’t have viruses.
Config:
I7 7700K 4.2 GHz
GTX 1080 8GB
8GB RAM

I play on medium - high configs
Video of these fps drops: - YouTube

AV software has been known to cause problems. I’d try disabling it when you’re playing.
Also your RAM needs to be 16GB for this game to play well, it’s the only difference between your system and mine and i run on ultra.

No, RAM is obviously not the problem. Anyway, I paused the protection of Kasperksy and I’ve put the Forza graphics on low, and has the same FPS drop on ultra or high graphics.

The game requires at least 12Gb of ram, that’s recommended to run at max details, tho the more GPU power you have the more RAM/CPU that’s typically needed, not the case with every game.

While 8Gb is fine for most things, its starting to show its age, I’m willing to bet you have 1x 8GB stick which will run in single channel which can impact the maximum FPS and in some rare cases cause stutter.

I’m going to agree with Mitchy, Windows 10 1809 is a memory hog as it is, more so than previous versions I find, run out of memory, the system then swaps to pagefile which is much slower and can result in choppy gameplay.

My suggestion, close out applications, close Kaspersky completely, Exit out of Nvidia Geforce Experience if installed, Close everything until barebones windows, and give it another go. My other suggestion would be to upgrade to 16GB, Can open Task Manager and watch the memory tab, tho once its past around 80 or so % Windows will start to swap to virtual memory and you will feel it.

How is RAM obviously not the problem? It’s going to be using the virtual memory and that will slow things down considerably.

My performance has been steadily decreasing since the first update. I’ve consistently had to reduce settings to get a bit better performance with each update (but setting changes don’t help a lot). No other game is doing this. It’s gotten to the point that when any other cars are on the screen while driving (especially my own) I get consistent micro stutters and frame rate drops. I have to have hood view on to get smooth gameplay, but now I get poor frame rates even from that view. Nothing has changed with my hardware since release so it’s the updates for sure causing the issues. I played 6 hours straight during pre release on maximum settings and never dropped below 60fps or had one stutter.

For those having issues with AV programs and Forza be aware that pausing or suspending the AV doesn’t solve anything. It must be uninstalled. This is generally an issue with Forza 7 though and not Horizon. I currently have no AV installed and my system is much better off. Windows 10 doesn’t seem to like AV programs from my experience so far.

I have 2 av programs and 3 anti malware (for testing) and Forza Motorsport 7 and Horizon 4 run fine. No they don’t run at once but i usually have one of each running in the background. I also have several other things running in my task tray.
Better optimisation of systems is recommended for playing any games. There are loads of tips and write ups how to do this. I’d recommend www.tweakguides.com as a good place to start. A PC is not a console, you need to take care of it to ensure everything is running smoothly.

I have similar problem.

Windows 10 1809 17763.195

Earlier, i played on high-ultra preset with maxed FXAA and MSAA on 60 FPS with GPU usage about 70%.
Now, with the same preset, I have about 25-30 FPS with GPU usage 99%.
Trшed to delete the last win updates, reset win store and forza.
Videodrivers that I have tested: 18.12.1; 18.12.2; 19.1.1; 19.2.2.
Now the game can give me convenient 60 FPS only on ultra low preset :frowning:
P.S. Other games are without any changes in performance.

For convenient gaming, I need to reduce my preset to ultra low, so it gives me 55-60 FPS.

Tried to re-install the game, to reset the ms store and the game, to delete the last windows updates. No result.

I’ve solved the problem!
It was because of my videocard. My cooling system for CPU is too big, and pressed on my videocard, so it has been displaced.
I reinstall it, and in addition I placed a special stand on the corner of it.
Sorry for my english.
Hope it will be useful for somebody!
