FH1 comparison with FH2 and 2 questions

Things I like about the new FH:

  1. The Car Class divisions and the requirement to race 10 times in the different classes. It really is interesting to try the same track back to back to 10 times back in different rides.
  2. After playing FH1 to 50 GOLD Level online and countless hours that committed every corner from Red Rocks to the Dam to memory it’s great to have a new and attractive landscape.

Thing I miss that I loved on FH1

  1. The STREET RACES - that was where $$$ could be made to buy the expensive 4 and 5 million dollar cars. - where is that on FH2? You could run the BEAUMONT MAIN race 8 to 10 times and rack up a million CR in 30 minutes - As far as I can tell so far the Horizon Final is the only race where more that 20K can be made in a race and that takes 2 laps of a 10 minute race???
  2. STREET RACES that were across the Map - The Red Rocks to Dam race on the Red Rocks hub and the last race at the Cell Tower - Interstate to Interstate around the map
  3. No races that use the great long interstate highway on FH2? What’s up with that? One of the most popular races on FH1 was the Interstate Race from the Red Rocks Hub.
  4. FH1 was plagued with users who gamed the system and broke the rules posting impossible times That has not been fixed on FH2 - I see a 457MPH score at the speed camera by the Forza Horizon Final race - That’s not possible is it? What car in FH2 goes 457mph?

QUESTION FOR ANYONE - IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE FAST $$$$ CR LIKE THE BEAUMONT MAIN RACE IN FH1 ON FH2
QUESTION 2 - My stats show I’ve triggered 8 of 12 SPEED ZONES but I’ve got 122 of 160 reward boards, all barn finds, and 338 of 340 roads so how can I have missed 4 of 12 speed zones?
does anyone know if there are 12 speed zones in the 360 version?

Speed cameras. The rewards are way out of whack. You can earn 50k for beating a rival at a camera but rivals only rewards you with 100 credits most times!?

MORE QUESTIONS -

1)CLUBS do not have garages for shared cars in the 360 version - is that true? for xBox One as well?
2) No way to save car setups? If your Muria is set up as a B Class you cannot switch it to C Class without losing the B Class upgrade purchases?
3) Does your FAST TRAVEL PERK work? I have every PERK but no fast travel on 360 - still asks for CR payment.
4) And nobody knows how to make cash or CR fast? Is the 10 minute Horizon Final the best way to raise 40,000 CR in 10 minutes?
5) There is no 5 MILLION DOLLAR CR race in FH2 like the final race in FH1 - so raising the cash for the 4 and 5 million dollar rides is going to take weeks?
(I have 3 million in CR at the moment but that’s taken 25 hours (well actually it’s been about 5 million in 25 hours) but still making $$ in FH1 was EASY

In regards to Fast Travel - the perk only lets you FT anywhere, but you still need to find all the FT discount boards to make it free(first thing I did before I ever used it, cause I’m cheeeeeaaap…)…

Oh, and the lack of a club garage really upset me - now I’ve got no way to share rides between my two profiles(GRIMEYtheFATMAN and Buzz Goodyear). I generally only use one at a time, usually alternating which one is gold every month, and in FH1, I’d use my club garage to share my most exceptional builds, for use by the other profile online(like my S700 Chevy Bel-Air that I built as Buzz Goodyear, which quickly became my go-to ride for all but the highest-speed asphalt courses in the game - if you found yourself in a lobby with me with this profile last month, you would have seen me get it out a few times[it was black, with a red carbon roof and offset stripe]…)…

I noticed with Fast Travel that the more times you fast travel, the less the cost is. Mine went down 400 credits every time I fast traveled starting from 5,000 credits, then eventually got down to 1,000 credits per fast travel and dropped by 200 credits until it hit 200 and then it stayed there the rest of the time. That means I had only spent a little over 35,000 credits in fast travelling before finding the last fast travel sign, so now it is all free.

The original felt more sandboxy and open which I miss. As you unlocked wrist bands it would open up a mix of races across the map. You could drive around exploring and jump in whatever races felt interesting to you at the moment. FH2 is so heavy in its hand holding it drains the fun from the game for me. I don’t want to race ‘series’ and I don’t want to have to keep returning to a hub to pick a new series just to mix it upe. I know many modern gamers have difficulty entertain themselves if they are not being led down corridors but this is exactly what made the original game so good. FH2 more structured approach is so much less fun to me.

I enjoy the fact they have mixed off-road and road races together but it seems they could have went a little lighter on the off-road stuff. If I am driving a rally car or truck then, yeah, I expect a lot of the series to put me off-road or on mixed surfaces but when I am selecting exotic sports cars I expect these types of off tarmac adventures to come up rarely.

Likewise with the rain. I won’t deny it is a brilliant technical feat but it feels over used. I have never been to Spain but I guess it is a constant 80% chance of rain over there based on this game?

I would have also liked to see a major distinction between the road and off-road sections. When you are not driving a competent off-road car then there should be a much greater risk / reward for cutting off road. As it is, having roads in the game is almost pointless. Just look at how many avatars you see cruising across the open fields vs actually driving on the roads. Stiff sports cars should be slow and unwielding when off road and off road cars likewise on tarmac.

I also thought the developers heard enough complaints about the unskippable voice-over instructions that they would have dropped it from this game but that is not the case. I cringe every time that little speaker icon shows up in the bottom corner of my screen because I know it is about to waste my time repeating something I already know.

I love the game. It is a masterpiece to drive and look at but, for me, it falls short of the inspiring, all out fun I had with the original. I have played every type of racing game from Pole Position to iRacing and the original Forza Horizon is among my top five all time favorite racers. It is too early to tell but 20 levels in I am not thinking FH2 is even cracking the top ten. I am not saying it is bad, far from it. It is still one of the best racers out right now, but it just doesn’t have the same magic as the original.
