ok so i dont quite know how to describe this, i booted forza to play today and the FFB on why wheel (g920) just feels weird, its like the force feedback is just randomly pulling my wheel to one side or the other, it also feels like theres just a deadzone when the wheel is centred where FFB doenst do anything, then as soon as i move it out of this deadzone it starts randonly pulling the wheel, it also feels like its just randomly making the wheel harder to turn at certain points. like what its doing makes no sense, ill be cornering and the wheel will randomly start jerking left and right or ill go over a slight bit of camber causing a wheel to dip, adn the wheel will just dive in that direction
I also just discovered if i start accelerating without touching the wheel it just starts jerking left and right and progressivley gets bigger like its trying to correct for something and thne overcoreecting in a loop. Its also much much worse on asphalt, on dirt its almost not a problem
It also feels like when im turing into a corner its activley working against me to a stupid degree, like it makes it actually hard to turn into a corner
I have no clue if this is my wheel or the game, but it was fine when i played last week and now its being weird
Nope its not you its the latest update. Mine does the same thing. Do nothing but push the throttle mid way at most and the car goes and after like 2 seconds the wheel start oscillating back and forth a lot. Use the controller and the car drives straight as an arrow . Touch the wheel and off it goes oscillating wildly again. Big pain in the butt. I stop playing it until they fix it as I am an avid wheel user.
Hopefully they’ll fix it soon enough. The game was finally not too broken for a little while, and this update happened bringing huge UI lags and this ffb issue.
FFB not just feels off, but is completely off. G920 user here too and it does seem to be specific to the G920. Definitely a Forza issue also as other titles like iRacing and Assetto Corsa work exactly as intended.
I started the game up to see if anything has been fixed. Now on paved surfaces the oscillating is minimum but still no road feel . Not even if i turn it all the way up BUT … go off road and the wheel oscillates like crazy and there its no off road feel. I have 400 hrs in this game since day one and i know how the wheel felt and how it feels now. I am not some delusional gamer either. I know how FFB works and this isn’t it. What ever they did in the Nov 8th update broke the FFB. Its not worth playing for me as it is right now and that sucks.
No there’s no change, nothing mentioned in the release notes either. Try racing or saving a slide, the surface doesn’t matter, it’s still 5Hz ish.
Yeah you are right nothing has changed it still useless. Its so maddening really. I have aver 450 hours in this game since Launch. After a long day of work and life’s BS I liked coming home , loading up FH5, turning up the surround sound system , grabbing the wheel and shifter and losing myself in the driving and sound. Now its just pure crap as the FFB is so broke and annoying it gets me more stressed out and it isn’t worth playing. Considering all the idiots doing the glitches , exploits and stuff i doubt the FFB problem will be top priority.
Hopefully as soon as someone at Playground actually attempts to play the game with a G920 they’ll realise how critical the issue is and not keep us waiting.
Still unplayable as of the 31st January 2023 update. All that fanfare leading up to launch about how much they love wheel users and they just drop us again at the first sight of trouble
Seems to be a problem the game has with G920, the game probably has some properties for different wheels and it happens to think 5Hz ffb is ok for G920 since 3+ months ago. Idk about console vs PC, I have it on PC.
Also, can anyone here figure out where the config file(s) for device specific control settings are located? Maybe editing such file could help?
FH5 has been unplayable for me since October 2022. I was so optimistic that last month’s update would finally fix this issue, but still no solution yet. At some point I thought my driving skills became too rusty, but once I compare it with FH4, I realise that something’s not right with FFB. It’s a shame they just ignore such a crucial bug for months without giving a care to us G920 users.
My biggest issue is they clearly have time to fix body kit alignment issues that many didn’t even notice or other less important stuff like making a Oreo car. Yet they are “to busy” to fix a steering wheel issue. Some days i just cant get my head around the thought process of some developers. Fix the wheel please its super annoying !
I’m using a Thrustmaster wheel on PC and I have to use an out-of-game workaround to get FFB to function at all. That’s been the case since at least last summer.
