Festival Playlist events and rewards Oct. 2 - Oct. 9 (Spring S51)

TBH, I don’t get the deal with trying to do things stock. The playlist is already a chore and has been for years so I prefer to just get it out of the way as soon as I can.

I can understand the feeling of “something” good but I just can’t be A…….d with the bother.

Well patience is definitely the problem for that one. It might be possible but the run up needed to get to full speed makes the whole process too time consuming.

Because the majority of PR stunts are possible stock, and because of how cumbersome the game makes it to not only upgrade your car, but then remove said upgrades after the fact, it’s usually much faster to just pick a car and go do it. I might actually default to upgrades more often if I could remove them again right from the map, but I can’t, so I don’t upgrade them.

Most of the cars are already upgraded so the stock option is pointless for me. I applaude those that do make tat effort though. Removing upgrades is pretty straightforward though.

I get that it’s no big deal to people who upgrade a bunch of their cars, but I want to drive these cars as they actually historically existed, to experience them like someone who rolled them off the lot would. (To whatever extent the game’s somewhat arcadey representation of them allows me to, anyway.) I’ve never seen the point of throwing a few hundred extra HP and a new suspension on a car, because at that point you’re not even driving that car anymore, but something entirely different that you’ve created. I know I’m probably in the minority there, though.

And no, it really isn’t that straightforward to add or remove them. To upgrade the car in the first place you have to travel to a house or the test track, either pick out a bunch of upgrade parts yourself or scroll through the user-made tunes, check out and buy the parts, travel to the PR stunt, and complete it. Then after you’re done you have to travel back to your house, reset to default upgrades, and if you’ve downloaded a tune you don’t want to keep you have to go to that separate menu and delete it too. All of that just for a single stunt. Meanwhile when I use a stock car it’s pick the car, travel to the stunt, do it, done.

I get your points but as said, my main thing with the playlist is to get it done and dusted as soon as possible. I work long hours so don’t have a lot of time to mess about. The sooner it’s done the better so if that means using tuned cars that are already tuned in the garage then I’ll use that instead.

I get the ethos that it’s not using the “real car” but let’s face it, the cars are not really anything like a real world experience anyway.

Yeah, like I said I get how it works if you already have a bunch of tuned cars. By the same token I keep all of my cars stock, so using them as-is is usually the fastest way to finish them for me. Most weekly stunt requirements are either easily clearable in a stock car, or else so impossible that they obviously need an upgraded car. (The Trailblazer this week was a great example of the former; even in the stock low-powered buggy and not taking the best route I cleared the goal time by several seconds.) It’s those ones that are just barely out of the reach of a stock car, or maybe even theoretically possible if you drive an absolutely perfect run, that wind up taking a lot of time. I’ll usually try those several times stock, maybe even switch my car at some point, only to eventually figure out they’re not possible (or too annoying to bother with) and then go through the upgrade rigamarole.

And yeah, I know that most cars aren’t particularly realistic in the grand scheme of things, but they’re the closest I’m going to get outside of doing something like getting really into Assetto Corsa modding. I was thinking more of a broader sense of realism, though. Like I was just running an offroad Tour to complete the weekly task, and I’m there in my modern Bronco getting passed by a 1970s Merc convertible, and my brain is saying “This is just dumb.”

The margin is extremely small….

Starting from the XP board to the right of the Test Track, actually did 205.13 on my first attempt with my standard assists but screenshotted it too late, and in trying to get this I ended up getting several problems…

Anything disturbs your run like a bad traffic spawn or your own driving causing you to go too wide = It’s over

Having to rewind = It’s over, either through the tiny amount of speed rewind knocks off or if you’re in auto at over 190mph the game has changed up to 7th when you resume :man_shrugging:

Also the bridge is a slight bump and if you’re in auto there’s a high chance that’ll bump it to 7th too, which is such a problem as it’s appalling and again your run has no chance then, with how low down 7th gear starts in stock gearing this 610hp car isn’t even producing 500 so acceleration becomes zero, manual sorts this issue out though which I ended up doing for the screenshot above just for a bit more of a consistent chance at doing it.

Well done! Now I’m wondering if I really did manage to do it stock last time. I bought the V12 engine swap this time which I didn’t have before, but maybe I threw on some random power upgrades for the stock engine.

Edit: I was about to say that I didn’t see any upgrades other than the ones I bought for this week, but nope, I already had the twin turbo upgrade. That must been enough to get it the first time around.

Please stop with the stock cars in the Festival Playlist. PLEASE! Who is even playing this game to drive UNMODDED cars? Did y’all forget that this isn’t Forza Motorsport? It doesn’t make the game rewarding, just a nuisance. At the very least, keep it out of the trial or the championships which grant a lot of points. Throw them on one of the EventLab single-race events.

You know the playlists are being rehashed right?

My first attempt I was 202 or 203 mph in the stock R8 so I thought it should be possible stock. I just rewinded a bit, applied an older tune and went 220ish. Mostly it’s a lack of patience on my part, but I’ll probably go back and try to get the 205mph stock.

It’s a bit easier to apply and break tunes though. From freeroam you can apply a new or previously downloaded tune from the creative tab, delete it from your downloads, and then after being finished with it reset the car to stock in the cars tab by opening the tuning section. The drawback for some is that the cost of the parts is often more than the rewards from the spin.

Sure, but it would be nice for the future. The main reason I buy Forza Horizon is for the build customization & tuning. Having to race the unmodded cars is just awful. I don’t care how good the Quatro was 40 years ago, compared to a grandma’s Golf, it’s trash today.

Um, I am. I like driving stock cars. If I want to drive a car that’s faster or handles better, I just, y’know, pick another car.

Does anyone have any idea how they could have done this?

Came out and instantly saw a player icon clearly behind me on the mini-map so had to take a look and make sure I wasn’t going doo lally :joy:

Snug your car up to the door and reset its position. You can can drive back over the roof too.

I’m having a Mandela effect moment. When I went to do today’s daily, i was absolutely certain that there was a trailblazer next to the Midnight Battle icon for the Toyota Celica. For the life of me I cannot find it and I’m sure I’ve done it several times over in the past. Am I mistaken?

It must be one of those PR Stunts that are/were only there temporarily during certain series.

That’s got to be the reason. I was just used to seeing it there when I went to do it. Could also be they added it in after this series but that may be unlikely.

At this point I don’t get why they don’t just activate those permanently. We’re done with the magical “evolving map” thing anyway. Or while they’re at it, turn back on those pathfinder(?) missions that only showed up in a single series.
