I’ve also just done the trial as I wanted to see what all this negativity was about. Personally I thought the track was good, however I can see why many won’t like it as it’s not tailored for beginners and there’s not much creativity going on here outside of the track itself which again I can see many not appreciating.
I used the 2010 Pagani Zonda R with Don Joewon Songs tune named “Grip / Speed S2”. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for this track but it’s my go to for S2 and a solid choice all round.
To win, just be patient. Use the first lap to learn the track. There are 2 or 3 parts where the AI slow down and you can catch up and pass. You’re only real competition is the first AI car which took me 1.5 laps to pass.
I wouldn’t say I hated it or even disliked it. Had some fun bits with my little Atom, but even the shorted 4 of 5 laps was a bit long for my taste. I think 2 would have been enough. And I probably would have appreciated the creativity ( I did note some interesting bits ) and had more fun in something like A or B with the difficulty dialed up. S1 or S2 for this was just insanity imo, but then they are my least favorite classes.
Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t exactly find the event lab fun and would much prefer to do something far more creative. But as a track and as a race I thought it was good. Maybe not a good choice for the weekly playlist that everyone does and as everyone is alluding too.
If anyone wants to try a better event lab (at least IMO) and enjoys CC then give this persons event lab a go: Try out my new event creation Backside Run revisited. I tried it the other day and loved it. Don’t bother if you’re not a fan of CC though.
About the trial: Even though my group won first try with only two races, in neither of them anyone could keep up with the top AI in first place. In the first race my team “mates” shoved me around at the start so I watched them try from fifth. In the second race I was the one eating dust from a car going way faster than it should be able to.
Event lab: what they said done with stock FXX K with max downforce and billion of rewinds on first lap.
Buggy championship: any stock bug that can win circuit event? I tried, but even though it is everyone in same cars, they are beating me on straights easy.
The buggy one was tough but did it 2nd try, used a d500 baja beetle. I came second twice and 1st once. Just won on overall points really as the leading drivatar came something like 8th on the last race, giving me an overall points lead.
The AI is generally more competitive on circuits and there’s more cars with higher stock PI they can use here. I used the rental car which was about C560.
First race, I got held up by a teammate who just wouldn’t let me past and I think finished 4th behind two other teammates and one AI. Second race I finished 2nd behind one teammate. Both races the AI got less than 1,000.
I thought this was a fair event - the AI was definitely less obviously nerfed than the last couple of weeks. Enjoyed it.
I did the weekly easy, and the trial, also attended the playground games and the eliminator just entered the events and sat them out couldn’t be bothered with participated as that is not actually required.
Yeah, special shout-out to all the Open VW drivers out there hanging out at the back and trading off passes. The crazy tuners can be miles ahead, I just want my 2 points.
It’s always fun battling it out for 1st /2nd/3rd as long as drivers are respectable and the drivatars are losing and teammates don’t ram, makes for a really fun race, how it should be.
I’ll just apologize now to anyone I’ve raced with for any paint trading I’ve only recently started to participate in the open events & typically finish last or close to it. Part of the reason for that is bc I AM trying to be respectful of other drivers & typically in doing so, I end up giving up speed & position trying to avoid it. (At least that’s my excuse for now lol)
I will give that event a go later.
