Wow…I really think this was the worst playlist week in this game’s history. It’s like a perfect superfecta of everything I hate about playlist events. What a masterpiece of garbage.
I happened to try the daily to smash the solar panels.I ran through them all with the Alumicraft truck.
I didn’t get the daily but I did complete the accolade for smashing 100 panels with a Mitsubishi Eclipse…
I went through all of them with the Tankpool after doing one of the truck tasks and it didn’t trigger, but then I warped back later with a normal car and it did right away. Maybe big trucks hit so many at a time that it doesn’t increment the counter properly.
Could be. Tried that truck too but ended up getting it to work with a Honda s2000.
Series S here, haven’t had any problems with playlist or dailies whatsoever. Ive been playing seasonal champs over and over just for the sake of it. Done everything, except dallies of course, the same day the playlist dropped. Very mediocre this week.
yes, I think that’s what happens, the counter goes up one then there’s a delay before it can register the next one
100% no.
Re the transition, a while back I was in a tour. I had an interruption in the drive between race 1 and 2. I paused the game guessing I would be timed out. When I came back I resumed and was in the drive from race 2 to 3. It let me skip race 2 and finish race 3. It looks like they were paused and could have resumed if they timed it right.
I haven’t experienced anything like what you showed with the drivatars. The coop events I run are primarily the seasonal and the occasional tour when it’s in the playlist.
The other part with the zero prestige players, it’s more than just being at the front. There’s rarely any at the back. It doesn’t fit any pattern I’ve ever seen. This week it’s been in the trial, the Buick and Toyota championships and games. I ran each several times. The stock BMWs were really fast in games as were some clear road tunes. And lots of bad driving in the races. From what you showed with the intentional ramming, to wallbanging and over-ambitiously going for gaps that don’t exist.
It’s all too much to think all the new players are that good. If the driving was good I’d have given a lot of it a pass.
If you look at the player list you’ll notice that the respective player had left before the second race already. He shouldn’t have been in the lobby anymore at this point.
This was something more special. I had such despawns happening before already but that was at least some months ago. The more common stuff isn’t as “in the face” as shown here. It’s often much more subtle and difficult to notice. I had posted some examples in the playlist thread from last week.
Yes, you’re absolutely right. There seems to be a pattern with these players. Many players may don’t even notice it because much of what’s going on will be difficult to spot in anything else than street races. That’s presumably why so many people aren’t suspicious but if you’re driving basically only Tours on asphalt (like me) it should be noticable at some point. There simply is way too much of this going on to not run into it at some point.
Paid actor…
if that helps you sleep at night, sure.
Just barely forced myself through the rest of this last night. I wasn’t kidding when I said this was one of the worst playlist weeks I can remember. Everything about it was specifically designed to waste the player’s time. Four separate types of the rotating online events (seriously, we were only missing the Eliminator). One of those online events being the Tour-as-a-daily-task nonsense. Another being one of those awful “do X things in Horizon Open” slogs. That painful D-class buggies championship. Neither of the other two championships being above C-class, including one that included the three longest dirt scramble routes on the main map. I swear this whole thing took me a couple of hours longer than a usual playlist does.
For the much-maligned buggy championship, it took me a few attempts to get any sort of decent result on Baja Scramble. I wound up going with the Class 5, because I just couldn’t come to terms with the #1107’s abysmal performance in sharp corners. I even tried switching to manual, but my brain is just not wired to handle worrying about feathering the throttle through a corner while simultaneously figuring out which gear I should be in. Eventually I managed 2nd in the Class 5, which was more than enough for me. I had a rough ride on the Baja Trail too, since the AI decided to keep cutting across my nose and killing any momentum I managed to get. I had to rely on the mother of all dive-bombs (with plenty of rewinding) on the final corner to steal 1st, and then play the ultimate game of mirror-driving to block the AI on the final straight. Somehow after all of that, Desierto was an absolute breeze that I genuinely enjoyed driving. Who knew?
Honestly I had an even worse time of it with that “get 3 passes in Open Custom” task. For stock enthusiasts like myself, the Volkswagen lineup has no real competitive options for any class. The best I came up with at first glance was the FE Beetle at 900 PI, but it has zero top speed and gets eaten alive by more conventional cars at that level. I managed one lucky pass with it when someone way in front of me smacked into a wall and got slowed down, but otherwise it was useless. I tried switching to one of the Golfs in B-class dirt, but two or three times in a row I was put into a championship with one other driver in a tuned car, so I didn’t have a prayer. Finally I tried switching to the rallycross Beetle in S1 dirt, and after a few more races I managed to somehow grind out a couple more passes. Incredibly frustrating.
Speaking of online stuff, I at least discovered that the Tour daily task only needed your team to get 800 points in a single race, so I was able to quit out of it after the first race to save some time. While I’m complaining, I hate the change made to event notifications between FH4 and FH5. The earlier game would alert you right away when you completed any sort of task, like “do X things in a race,” so if you wanted you could quit right there. For some reason FH5 changed it so that the notification only pops up after you exit the race, so with some sorts of tasks I’m never sure if I have to stick around for the whole event to get it to register. That would have been really useful for the passing task too, since I had no idea if some of the passes I made actually registered, as the passing skill can be infuriatingly inconsistent.
